Engagement and Advocacy

The Engagement and Advocacy Group’s key purpose is to communicate with Guild members, and to promote the value of community pharmacy to Australian health care consumers. Its objectives are to ensure that community pharmacies continue to be recognised as valuable and highly trusted health destinations, offering a broad range of medicines, medication management and primary health care services. The Group produces digital and print materials to communicate in a timely and accurate manner to Members, stakeholders, media, and consumers.

The underlying principle for the Group is to protect and promote the brand value of the Guild in all work.

Role Responsibilities of the Senior Communication Officer

The primary responsibility of the Senior Communication Officer is to assist and support the Engagement and Advocacy Group and national secretariat business areas to advocate and promote community pharmacy through analysis, planning and delivery of the Guild’s public and member-only website content.

·  Responsible for the content management on the Guild’s website and liaising with relevant stakeholders (Guild internal Groups, Guild Branches, Guild businesses and other relevant stakeholders)

·  Ensure web content meets Guild business objectives and audience goals while adhering to brand, style and standards guidelines

·  Create/modify content approval processes, templates and documentation to capture Guild business objectives, increase efficiency and quality assurance

·  Coordinate internally and with branches and other relevant partners to ensure web content supports campaigns, promotions, and cyclical events

·  Provide support to deliver communication strategies, as required

·  Serve as a resource with respect to content writing, editing, proofreading and review as required

·  Make regular contact with Guild internal Groups, Branches, Guild businesses and other relevant stakeholders to gather information for potential website content

Organisational Relationships

·  Reports to National Manager, Communication

·  Works with team members in the Engagement and Advocacy Group to support business areas and branches

·  Provides website content advice to National Secretariat staff

·  Assists with account management for communication service delivery

Role Specific Capabilities

The following work experience and knowledge is required:

·  Experience preparing and publishing website content

·  Working knowledge of SharePoint

·  Working knowledge of contemporary content management systems (CMS)

·  Working knowledge of online design software

This position requires skills in the following areas:

·  Minimum 3+ years in similar role with demonstrated ability to perform role functions

·  Website content management

·  Communication strategy management Liaison and negotiation skills and ability to speak with influence and authority

·  Strong verbal and written communication skills for various audiences

·  High level creativity and organisation skills

This position requires competencies in the following areas:

·  Close attention to detail

·  Proven ability to deal with deadlines, multi-task and manage timelines

Qualifications

The following qualifications are essential for this position:

·  Diploma or Degree in Communications / Multimedia Development / Public Relations / Journalism /Graphic Design / Writing

All practices concerning recordkeeping within the Guild are to be in accordance with the Guild Records Management policy and its supporting procedures.
