Salary:NJC 31 (£27,807 inc ILW)

Hours:35 per week

While normal hours will be 9am to 5pm, the post will involve some flexibility.

Holiday:25 days per year

Main purpose

LawWorks has established around 60 Clinics in England and Wales and is constantly developing new ones. This post is designed to provide all aspects of support for all such Clinics once established and thus allow other members of the team to concentrate on new developments.

Duties of the post

This is a new post and so there will be considerable flexibility required. The points below should be regarded as indications of the range of work required but should not be considered as finite.

  • Work with LawWorks Clinics
  • To ensure that all Clinics are functioning effectively and take any action necessary to correct any problems. This could include, amongst others, finding new lawyers or law firms, relocating the Clinic, producing fresh documentation and providing advertising materials.
  • Regularly and frequently contacting the Clinics to ensure that they are adequately supported.
  • To ensure that every Clinic is aware of all of the benefits of being a LawWorks Clinic and that the have received the appropriate documentation.
  • To put in place procedures to ensure that all of the data we hold on each Clinic is complete and up to date.
  • To organise any specific training required by a Clinic.
  • Handling telephone enquiries from LawWorks Clinics and the associated firms.
  • Placement of individual lawyer volunteers into existing Clinics.
  • To play an active part in the production of the Clinics newsletter and the Clinics’ section of the website.
  • General
  • Assistingthe LawWorks for Individuals team in all project matters/events etc. with which they are involved – including covering for holiday periods of others.
  • Participating in general work of the charity on day to day basis as required including occasional evening work.
  • Self sufficiency with regard to IT
  • Any other reasonable work requested by the Chief Executive

Skills and Experience

Essential / Desirable
Ability to set up and maintain filing systems / 
Good written and oral communication ability including the ability to make presentations / 
Good telephone manner with experience of dealing with a variety of individuals and agencies / 
Competent computer skills using Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel. / 
Use of web-based systems. / 
Good team member. / 
Ability to multi-task / 
Accuracy and attention to detail / 
Flexibility / 
Knowledge of the legal profession and how it is organised. / 
Familiarity with input to Access databases. / 
Experience of working in a small organisation, preferably a charity / 
