Job Description

Northeast Academy Charter School is a K-8 school of choice in the Denver Public Schools district. NACS is a Core Knowledge curriculum based school specializing in building a classical education with a strong emphasis on character and moral values.

Duties for this position include but are not limited to the following:

·  Supports SPED teacher with daily duties (push in to classes for academic support and gets elementary students from classes)

·  Supports SPED teacher with operation duties (progress reports, attendance reporting, and progress monitoring)

·  Subs for SPED teacher weekly when SPED teacher has weekly Monday team meetings with providers

This position is in part responsible for the education of the students. As examples to the students, employees are expected to demonstrate high moral character and embrace the virtues of a democratic society. Employees are accountable to the Principal. This position will report to the Student Services Director. Employees are employed at-will and operate as professionals within the guidelines established by the School Charter and the Board. These guidelines provide that instruction be consistent with the Core Knowledge Sequence. Employees are accountable in the following areas of responsibility:

Minimum Job Requirements

Bachelors or Associates degree in a relevant field or related work experience

Demonstrated mastery of an academic discipline (upper school and specialists)

The ability and willingness to teach a range of subjects (elementary)

Ability and willingness to teach the Core Knowledge Sequence as defined in the charter application

Willingness to teach moral character

The ability to speak and write clearly and effectively

Conviction in the values of a rigorous liberal-arts education

Ability to maintain an orderly classroom
