Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board seeks student input on equity and diversity

In theDufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB), we are committed to ensuring that all students feel engaged and included in every aspect of school life.DPCDSB seeks to uphold the human dignity of all, as we are all created in the image and likeness of God. Further to our efforts to ensure equity, inclusivity, and respect, we would like to listen to, and learn from, our students’ lived experiences. To do so, we will be conducting surveys and focus groups in each of our secondary schools.

We would like to hear from our students directly about their thoughts on equity and inclusivity and how they may impact student success. The survey is available to all Dufferin-Peel students.Students will be able to access the survey through a QR code, as well as a link that will be promoted in their schools. The survey is anonymous. Students will be asked to identify their school and grade and no other personal information will be collected on the survey.

The follow-upfocus groups will be used to help inform programs, and services. By entering into these conversations with our students, we hope to create meaningful dialogue, receive input, and identify priority areas to ensure and enhance the success of all students. For the purpose of managing the focus groups, students will be asked to sign up in advance however, information collected by the sign up process or during the focus group will not be connected to the survey. The survey will be open to all secondary students during November. Focus groups will be held throughout November in each Dufferin-Peel secondary school. Students are not required to participate in both the survey and the focus groups; they can choose to complete only the survey. The information gathered will be used as one part of our ongoing efforts to know our learners and honour student voice.
