Hamlet Project
Torres
English IV/English IV Honors
Due: Your first class period back from Winter Break
This project is the culmination of your work so far this year reading Shakespeare’s Hamlet. The project will count as a test grade and is worth 75 points. You must choose ONE of the following options. I encourage you to evaluate your strengths- do not choose to create a dance if you have never taken a class, do not choose to play a song on the guitar if you have never held one before. Pick something that you are good at so that you can excel!
1. Comic Book: Choose one act from Hamlet to adapt into a comic book. You may edit the text, but be sure that you do not lose the meaning of the play. The comic book may be in color or black and white and must thoroughly cover the events of the act that you have chosen. Be clear and creative!
2. Original Song: Create and perform an original song covering at least one act from Hamlet. The song will be performed for the class and recorded. Lyrics will be turned in to Mrs. Torres. Original songs must clearly portray the act chosen and should discuss the deeper feelings of characters.
3. Original Dance: Choreograph and perform an original dance to music of your choice (must fit with the mood of the scene you have chosen) for at least one scene from Hamlet. Costumes must be worn. Dances will be performed for the class and recorded.
4. Creative Writing: Choose a character and write a journal from their perspective that covers at least one act. You must have at least 6 entries of at least two paragraphs in length. A creative cover is encouraged. Do not just re-write the act that you chose- write something creative and new!
5. Original Visual Art: Create a piece of visual art that portrays an act, scene, or theme from Hamlet. You might choose a sculpture, a hand-made costume piece, a painting, a drawing, etc. Visual art projects must be made from non-edible materials.
6. Free Choice: Idea of your own, must be approved by Mrs. Torres
ALL projects, regardless of type, must include a one-page, typed and double-spaced summary of your project and why you chose to create it.
