Dedication to Richland High School-As a Johnny Reb, one must have a positive attitude about our school and its teams, staff, students, and opportunities as the organization has a significant influence on school morale.

High moral standards- Becoming a Johnny Reb is an honor. We are a highly visible group, and you must be able to maintain the highest of standards at all times. Once you are a Johnny Reb, your conduct, language, appearance, and attitude should be that of a role model for peers and younger students.

Punctuality and the ability to stay positive and energetic, regardless of the circumstances, are a must! Johnny Rebs is a long-standing organization that has a rich history, full of tradition and credibility in Northeast Tarrant County. Video Application for Johnny Reb Candidates

(The quality of your answers is worth up to 60 points out of the 200 points possible.)

Using a video recorder, i-phone, flip camera or any other device that can record your answers in a viewable video format that can be viewed by computer please send your answers to the following questions. Please keep the following things in mind:

·  Cameras are available in the library and many of you have friends who will record your responses for you.

·  Turning in your videos early will give me an opportunity to view them and make sure that they are working before the deadline. If they are sent at the deadline and do not work your videos will not be judged at a later time.

·  Be clear, concise and brief. Each of the 6 answers should be less than 30 seconds in length. It is amazing what can be said in 30 seconds. Plan your answer before recording it.

·  Each of the six questions are worth 10 points. Each of the questions will be judged by a panel of judges. These judges will be different from the judges you will see in interview so they will not be biased by your videos. The judges will judge each question on a scale from 1 to 10.

·  This video is important. Your score on this video will be combined with the scores that you receive from grades, attendance, discipline and teacher referrals and placed on a scale of 100. If there are more than thirty applicants only the top 30 will be selected on the basis of these 100 points. If you make it through this round the live tryouts will be worth another 100 points for a possible score of 200.

Here Are Your Questions! Good Luck!

  1. Start by recording your name and your grade for us.
  2. What is the purpose the Johnny Reb organization and why is such a group necessary at RHS?
  3. What qualities, talents or resources do you possess that would benefit the Johnny Reb organization? (consider video or audio editing skills, acting skills, personality, writing skills, organizational skills, time management, and any others that you think might be of help.)
  4. The Johnny Rebs function both as leaders and as followers. Give examples of how you can operate as both a leader and a follower.
  5. Making the team will require you to make certain sacrifices of time, money, and possibly lifestyle choices. Why would you be willing to make such sacrifices to be a part of our organization?
  6. There are times that the Johnny Rebs are supporting a winning effort and times that we are supporting a losing one. Explain how Johnny Rebs should behave in each situation.
  7. Teamwork is important to the Johnny Rebs. What is one thing that is the most important for Johnny Rebs to do for each other as team members? What is one thing that is the most important for Johnny Rebs to not do to each other as team members?
