Friday 16/08/2013 to Thursday 22/08/2013

·  Fair supplies of carrots met a tentative demand; quality was good with well formed roots predominating.

Fruit: Trading in some lines were thwarted by the autumnal topics of going back to school and shortening days. Buyers held-off from making large purchases.

·  Nectarine trading tended to falter; values easier at 500/600c per 5Kg.

·  Flat peach , Paraguayos, supplies dropped and sales were less vibrant after what was a good season.

·  Standard peach sales were weak and supplies eased also.

·  South African pears were giving way to French new season Williams.

·  The apple trade was dull and ample stocks of Brazilian, Chilean, New Zealand and South African fruit were still on offer. New season French Primrouge quantities were low and interest muted.

·  Bramley culinary apples were still offered at 1200/1400 per box, but with new season lots soon to come on the scene values may come under pressure.

·  Plum volumes were lower and demand slowed.

·  Turnover in roses was slow as higher values inhibited price aware customers.

·  Chrysanthemum and gladiolus sales were fair.
