This is to provide the Honorable Secretary, updates on thestatus/effects and interventionsforTropical Depression“Urduja” which entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on November 23, 2009, based on the information sent by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) and DSWD-Field Offices- (FO) X and CARAGA.

  1. Situational Report:
  1. CARAGA:
  • Five thousand one hundred thirty-one(5,131) families composed of 30,247 persons coming from forty-five (45) barangays in the seven (7) municipalitiesand one (1) city in the provinces of Agusan del Norte and Dinagat Island were affected.
  • Fourteen(14) evacuation centers were opened and provided temporary shelter to 503 families or 2,767 persons while others stay with their friends’ and relatives’ houses.
  • No casualty was reported.
  • Sixty-three (63) houses were damaged with thirty-seven (37) totally and (26) partially destroyed.
  • P221,098.52 worth of assorted relief commodities were provided by the LGUs to their affected families.
  • DSWD Field Office - CARAGA SWAD team is still closely coordinating with the OCD, PDCC and all the Local Government Units (LGUs) within their areas of jurisdiction for technical assistance and possible request of augmentation assistance.
  • DSWD FO - CARAGA has sufficient standby funds (P439,877.10) and stockpile of relief commodities composed of food (P110,914.96) and non-food (P1,782,252.27) ready for augmentation/assistance, whenever necessary.
  1. REGION X
  • Three thousand two hundred (3,200) families composed of 13,718persons coming from ninety-one (91) barangays, eleven (11) municipalities and two (2) cities in the province of Misamis Oriental were affected.
  • Twenty-four(24) evacuation centers were opened and provided temporary shelter to 1,413 families composed of 6,266 individuals while the other 1,257 families or 5,452 individuals sought refuge with their friends’ and relatives’ houses.
  • Seven hundred twelve (712) houses were damaged with 233 totally and 479 partially destroyed.
  • DSWD Field Office - X with the SWAD team is still closely coordinating with the OCD, PDCC and all the Local Government Units (LGUs) within their areas of jurisdiction for technical assistance and possible request of augmentation assistance.
  • DSWD FO - X sufficient standby funds (P461,739.11) and stockpile of relief commodities composed of food (P1,320,225.00) and non-food (P404,158.90) ready for augmentation/assistance, whenever necessary.

The Program Management Bureau-Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (PMB-DROMIC) is closely coordinating with the DSWD–FOs concerned for significant reports caused by this weather disturbance.
