ALLOCATIONS LETTER & JOINING INSTRUCTIONS

EXERCISE PHOENIX GRIFFIN V, SWYNNERTON CAMP, 25TH TO 31ST OCT 2015

OUTLINE

Closing date for bids for Exercise Griffin V has now passed. Thank you for your continued support of this exercise. Please find attached a spreadsheet detailing your allocations. This year, we received a total of 310 bids for 250 cadet places.

YOUR CADET ALLOCATION EXPLAINED

Allocations were made to ensure the smooth and effective running of the exercise by:

1.  Ensuring that where possible, the priorities of OC Sqns were met.

2.  Ensuring all units got a fair percentage of their allocation.

3.  Providing a sufficient numbers of cadet NCOs

4.  Getting the appropriate mix of male/female cadets to suit the accommodation.

5.  Balancing the numbers of experienced cadets and those who have not attended before.

6.  In instances where there were female beds available and not male beds, the next female on the priority list was allocated. This may mean that some male cadets who were higher on the priority list may not have been allocated.

7.  Cadet Warrant Officers will be utilised as Staff for the duration of the exercise.

PLEASE NOTE: Cadets will be working and accommodated together in exercise Flights for the duration of the exercise, with selection into the Flights made to spread the wealth of experience. Cadets from the same Sqn should not be told (or expect) that they will be all in the same Flight. We expect the more experienced cadets (regardless of rank) to make a point of helping the less experienced cadets when required.

CADET RESERVE LIST

As in previous years we are operating a reserve list. Please remind those not selected that they may still be able to attend if there are drop outs. If any of your allocated cadets are no longer able to attend, please notify the exercise adjutant (Flt Lt Woods) via as soon as possible. Please do not re-allocate the place yourself.

CADET PROMOTIONS

Cadets will be allocated accommodation, flights and tasks based on the rank provided at the time of their nomination. Please notify us of any significant changes. FS to CWO is especially critical because this will impact accommodation provisions.

STAFF ALLOCATIONS

Staff allocations have based on key skills required for the smooth running of exercise.

The staff and CWOs that have been allocated a place are shown on your staff allocations sheet. If you think names are missing or those identified are no longer attending please inform exercise adjutant to allow for the place to be re-allocated.

NEXT STEPS

1.  Please read the joining instructions carefully.

2.  Ensure all attending cadets and staff are in possession of a kit.

3.  Return completed consent forms and SINGLE, COMBINED deposit cheque for all your staff and cadets. This must be returned by the date stated in Appendix B.

4.  Notify exercise adjutant of any staff or cadet drop outs.

5.  The transport plan will be published shortly.

6.  Please attach your allocated cadets and staff to the activity application in SMS as soon as possible. All attending Squadrons have been added.
