DSS Basics, Terms and Definitions.
Ok first you need a Computer running Windows 9X, NT, or 2000 and an ISO 7816 compliant programmer.
As for software, you will need BasicH2.8, WinExplorer4.4, and Viyada1.6.
BasicH2.8 and Viyada 1.6 are Card maintenance programs, used for cleaning, copying, saving, writing, and editing EPROM images as well as other card maintenance tasks. BasicH2.8 is for cards with a USW of 26 to 33 and Viyada1.6 is for a card with a USW of less than 26.
WinExplorer is a script loader program. It installs and removes programming as well as running other card maintenance scripts that you might need.
The scripts outlined here are SummitStealth 1.6b and DssStealthPro32B1.
You may also need one or more of the following files in order to run WinExplorer4.4
- ste55en.exe for Win 95, 98 & NT4
- scripten.exe for Win2000
- dcom95.exe for win 95 only
- dcom98.exe for Win98
- sct10en.exe for Win 95
Now lets talk some DSS terms:
- IRD – (Integrated Receiver Decoder) your DSS receiver.
- H card - An H card is the blue smartcard with a picture of a satellite on one side. The other side has big bar code with a large number above it. The H card numbers’ range from 0000 4000 0000 to 0001 6999 9999, if the number is not is this range, then it is not an H card.
- Test Card – a programmed H card.
- CAM ID - (Conditional Access Module) is the large number on the card above the bar code.
- USW – (Update Status Word) this number corresponds to the number of updates on the card.
Fuse Byte – Card status here are the common settings
00 – Virgin (00/FF)
05 – Not Married/Activated (05/FA)
20 – Virgin/Married (20/DF)
24 – Married/Deactivated (24/DB)
25 – Married/Activated (25/DA)
EPROM image – an image that is taken from a cards EPROM, or a copy of the EPROM also called image, bin, bin image, ect…
Subbed image – an EPROM image that taken from a currently subscribed H card.
Script – a script put in simple terms is a set of instructions for WinExplorer. The script tells WinExplorer what to write to the card.
Activation Script – will mimic the actual subscription of a subscribed card.
3M script – (3 Musketeers – All for one and one for all) will authorize all channels.
Stealth Script – a 3M that hides the 3M code and usually locks the card (with Backdoor password) to prevent holes from being opened.
Clone – Writing an EPROM image from card (A) onto card (B) thus changing the CAM ID # of card (B) to match the CAM ID # of card (A).
ECM – Electronic Counter Measure
Cleaners – An individual or Co. that unloops cards.
Common Questions and Answers:
What do I do if I get Timeout 2A/58 Error
There are only a few reasons for getting a 2A/58 error:
- Card is programmed with stealth that closes holes that may need to be open in order for the program or script to access the card. Remove the script with the scripts uninstall program.
- Looped Card, Nothing you can do about it and you can possibly cause more damage to the card, so spend the $ and get it cleaned or if you have an unlooper this would be a good time to use it.
- Configuration Issues, Make sure BasicH2.8 and WinExplorer4.4 are correctly configured.
- In BasicH2.8 goto "Config" then "Comm Port" and make sure the setting is on the correct COM Port for your computer.
- In WinExplorer4.4 click "Configure" then "Program Parameters", click "P2 Settings" then again make sure the setting is on the correct COM Port for your computer.
- If your programmer uses a battery put a BRAND NEW one in.
Why am I getting a “Call Ext. 745” message on my screen?
Put simply in march of 2000 DTV started telling receivers to look for certain CAM ID #s and shut them off. DTV has a list of unsubscribed cards and that list is sent down to The IRD and it checks to see if the card being used is on that list. If it is you get a “Call Ext. 745” message.
How I you fix this?
The only current way to fix this is to clone your card with a bin file from a subbed card (subbed bin). The subbed card will not be on DTVs list so you will not get the “Call Ext. 745” message.
What about all those spoofing scripts?
They are round about ways to clone your card without actually cloning the card.
Can I use an F bin or an HU bin to clone my card with.
Currently all F cards are no longer valid so that is no longer an option.
There is no public way to read the contents of an HU cards EPROM in order to get the required values needed to clone a card.
Can I leave the phone line plugged in?
NO never use a test card in a receiver until the phone line is unplugged. Again never use a test card in a receiver unless you are positive that the phone line is disconnected.
I saw some blank smart cards for sale on an auction site can I program those like an H card?
NO! - scammers trying to take advantage of the uninformed are selling those cards. There is NO way to program a smart card, other than an H card, to receive DTV programming.
Should I reboot my receiver after I switch cards?
YES Always reboot or unplug your receiver when switching cards.
