Regular snapshots of learning

Our website and Twitter feed is updated almost daily. Signing up to Twitter lets you keep in touch with the huge range of our children’s learning and achievements. If you have not already signed up to Twitter, it’s easy to do. You do not need to tweet, but it does let you see the diverse learning that takes place within our school community. Our Twitter feed is locked but Miss McIntosh is able to grant you access. Once you have set up your account and have been granted access, seeing what’s been going on throughout the school takes two minutes on a mobile telephone. Instructions are at the end of this newsletter.

Think Dance

Primary 2/3 made us all very proud with their performance of the toys that came to lifeon the evening of 26 April. Every single child worked hard to produce a performance secondto none. They were the youngest group of performers, performing as one of 8 schools andthey were the opening performance. Their dance clearly told a story from beginning to endand they met all the criteria in the guidelines. Miss McIntosh and the children did a reallygreat job and once again our children were commended for their behaviour as well as theirparticipation.

Transition

As you will all be aware, Balfron High School is having to deal with very difficult andunforeseen circumstances at the moment. Transition projects and sports activities have been put on temporary hold and they have focused on ensuring their young people have safe places to be taught in and that the exams are undertaken with minimum disruption. As soon as we know the new arrangements for transition, we will let you know. Our thoughts are with the staff at Balfron High as they deal with these major building problems.

Primary 7 spent two very active, enjoyable and interesting days in Edinburgh. Once again thanks to Mrs Hewitt, Mrs Knox and our wonderful parent helpers who gave the children sucha great experience. The next residential will be their high school team building exercise at the beginning of first year. They are ready for this challenge.

Nursery to Primary 1 transition has begun and our new starts have begun their visits. Mrs Knox has already been to the feeder nurseries and the current P1s are enjoying the feeling of being “the big ones” as they buddy the new starts.

Sports and Clubs

P4 are currently having a set of tennis tasters on Wednesday afternoons.

Football and Netball league matches are well underway and Drymen has won both netball and football matches against Fintry and Buchlyvie. Fair play awards went to Corrie Irvine,Tom Duncan, Anna Milne and Adam Elder.
