DRUM CHANGEOVER PROCEDURE

From Pump A to Pump B

Stack Light Indication / Green Light /  / Drum Level OK
Yellow Light /  / Low Drum Level
Red Light /  / Drum Empty

When the drum is empty in Pump A, the equipment will automatically crossover to Pump B. The green light on Pump B will come on and pumping will begin.

The drum will then need to be changed in Pump A. The drum should be changed within one (1) hour of empty condition. If longer than one (1) hour, enter F4 and then F1 on the pendant. This will activate the heat and air to Pump A so the drum can be removed.

To change the drum in Pump A:

  1. Raise the follower plate by first locating the elevator up/down toggle switch on the elevator control panel. Place the toggle in the up position and turn the air regulator clockwise until the follower plate begins to rise.
  2. Push and hold the air relief button (located above the toggle switch) until the follower plate rises completely out of the drum.
  3. Remove the drum and dolly from Pump A.
  4. Insert the new drum into Pump A and secure with the drum hold-down mechanism. Make sure the drum is centered to the follower plate.
  5. Remove the follower plate bleed handle. Bleed handle is black with "L" shaped end.
  6. Place the toggle switch in the down position. The follower plate should lower into the drum.
  7. When the ram stops, re-insert the follower plate bleed handle. Hand-tighten and clean off any excess material.
  8. Go to the pendant and press F4 to go into the crossover mode.
  9. Press F1 on the pendant to start the air motor and pump on Pump A.
  10. Place a waste collection container under the bleed valve.
  11. Slowly open the bleed valve with the Graco wrench. The pump should cycle 3-4 times with product flowing into the waste collection container. The pump should move slowly up and down with no air popping or erratic movements.
  12. Close the bleed valve with the Graco wrench.
  13. Press F1 on the pendant to deactivate the heat zones and pump for Pump A. This puts Pump A into a ready mode while Pump B operates. Pump A will automatically begin pumping when the drum in Pump B is empty.

To perform drum changeover from Pump B to Pump A, repeat the above procedure switching "B" for "A".
