PTA General Meeting
November 11, 2014
Principal Dr. Sherri Lewis opened the meeting and welcomed all in attendance. She recognized the veterans and introduced the Magna Vista High School JROTC. They provided a stunning “Presentation of the Colors Ceremony”, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Jill Mabe, PTA President,welcomed everyone and thanked the Veterans for attending our PTA meeting. She also announced that the Art Walk would be available after the meeting. Jill invited all PTA members to the business meeting that is held at 6:00 before the general meeting. The minutes from the meeting were not read but can be viewed on the DME website.
The Treasurer, Roberta Wright, read the treasurer’s report. The beginning balance was $5,611.14, Disbursements were $1,388.05, Income was $3,605.32 and the end-of-report total was $7,828.41.
Jill said the shoe drive was a huge success. The goal was 100 bags, and we were able to collect 168 bags, providing a total fund-raiser amount of $1,632.80.
Spirit wear order forms will be coming home with the students soon. So please be sure to order your shirts and show your school spirit.
Kroger reward flyers have been sent home. Please sign your Kroger card up so the school can receive a portion of the funds spent.
The Christmas Corner will be held December 15th -18th for the children to purchase gifts for their families. Everything will be $1.00.
School Skate will be November 18th and Wendy’s night is December 2nd.
We have a new night, Jerry’s night. It will be held the 4th Wednesday of each month from 5:00-8:00. DMES will get 10% of the sales if you tell them you are from Drewry Mason Elementary. The first occasion for Jerry’s Night is November 23rd.
The upcoming PTA meeting for December will be held at Food Lion on December 11th.
The PTA is selling Hot Stuff Coupon Books for $5.00 each. You can sample their pizza after the meeting this evening. Flyers have been sent home to place orders.
Dr. Lewis introduced a Spartans Student Council member who read a speechdedicated to the veterans. She then recognized each veteran and a child presented them a card.
With no further business the meeting was adjourned. Everyone was invited to visit the Art Walk and sample the Hot Stuff Pizza.
