“Dress for Success” Code for High School (Grades 9-12)

To maintain a community with a sense of pride and purpose, our “Dress for Success” dress code is designed to prepare our students for life in a professional setting. The School expects students to dress sensibly, neatly, tastefully and appropriately by wearing clean attire in good repair at all times. Our dress code fosters respect for the academic environment and provides the opportunity for high school students to dress less formally, but still keep a professional, respectful, studious appearance.

“Dress for Success” attire for girls:

Skirts or skorts, the length of which should not be shorter than the fingertips of the student when the arms are comfortably at their sides; solid colored tailored pants (of any color), which are neither too loose nor too tight, and which are not too faded, frayed or otherwise distressed; tailored shirts or blouses, solid colored t-shirts, sweaters, and polo style shirts. No Denim. Any St. Paul’s logo item is acceptable.

Loafers, solid color athletic shoes and conservative heels are examples of acceptable footwear. Shoes with laces must remain tied at all times. Shoes with open toes or open heels are not allowed. Dark solid color boots may be worn November through March. For safety reasons, students wearing shoes that are deemed unsafe for walking up and down the stairs may be asked to change shoes.

Hair for all students

Student hair should be colored and styled in such a way as that it appears natural. If you have any questions regarding the distinction between natural and unnatural, please visit the Head of School or Division Director before having the hair restyled. Hats may not be worn by any student inside the building. Exceptions may be made for religious or ceremonial purposes.
