THE DREAM CDT

DREAM, or ‘Data, Risk and Environmental Analytical Methods’, is a ‘Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT), sponsored by NERC and ESRC.

The mission for DREAM is to support doctoral research, seizing the opportunities in ‘big data’ and analytics and, designing and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies across the environmental sciences for academe, industry, NGOs and government.

This is the student application form which should be completed as part of your application to study a PhD with us. Applicants need to fulfil NERC eligibility requirements, further information is available on the applicationFAQ. Please read this before applying!

There are 2 funded places available in DREAM to commence in January 2018, both are at Cranfield University.

WHAT TO DO NOW:

Thank you for completing the DREAM Student Application form.

When checked through, please email to the appropriate University contact at the end of this document. You will receive an email receipt acknowledging your application.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:

All the applications received for the current cohort intake are assessed and reviewed. The next step is that successful applicants will be called for interview, in person or online (e.g. by Skype). Following this a final selection is made as to the successful 7 applicants for DREAM†.

The calendar for the application process is as follows for the October 2017 intake:

1.Studentship advertisements are announced – October, 2017

2.Studentship applications closing date – Applications must be received by Thursday November 30th, 2017

3.Notification of applicants selected for interview – Friday December 2nd, 2017

4.Interviews held – By Friday December 15th, 2017

5.Notification of successful applicants – By Monday 18th, 2017

6.DREAM commencement and induction – 5th February, 2018

Interviews will be held either in person, or electronically (e.g. Skype – be sure to let us have your Skype username above), by the respective institutions hosting the project, following DREAM guidelines to ensure consistency. Successful candidates will then be invited to register as normal following the respective university procedures.

CONTACT DETAILS AND INFORMATION ON DREAM

DREAM is a consortium of four universities, led by Cranfield University, together with Newcastle University, the University of Cambridge and the University of Birmingham.Each of the advertised studentships will be based physically at one of the four universities. The research positions on the web indicate which university the project will be registered and based at (note many projects benefit from joint supervision across universities – but students will always be registered in the university of the lead supervisor).
