DRAMA CLUB CHARTER AND BY-LAWS

OFFICIAL NAME OF SCHOOL CLUB: DRAMA CLUB of the WOODLAND HILLS HIGH SCHOOL. (Club name must reflect the purpose of the club).

Statement of Club’s Purpose and Goals:

  • To foster a spirit of cooperation among students and faculty
  • To promote and encourage activities for the best interest of the school
  • To develop good citizens and leadership
  • To provide a means for student expression, and to encourage student involvement
  • To fundraise monies for use directed by the membership
  • To enhance students’ understanding and appreciation for the performing arts

Membership Requirements:

  • All interested students in good academic standing enrolled at Woodland Hills High School are eligible for membership. Club membership will not be limited on the basis of race, gender, ethnicity, national origin religion or disability.
  • Attendance or participation in club meetings and activities is limited to club members.
  • Non-school persons may attend on occasion to make presentations to the club with the prior approval of the school administrator.

Article I – Election of Officers

  1. Elections will be held annually at the beginning of each school year for the offices of:

  3. Vice-President
  4. Secretary
  5. Treasurer
  1. Nominations of officers shall be made either in writing or from the floor. Candidates must be in good academic standing to be nominated for any office. Voting shall be by secret ballot. Those candidates receiving a majority of votes of the members present and in good standing shall be elected.
  2. The term for each office is for the current school year.
  3. Sponsor reserves the right to remove from office any officer that is absent from three (3) meetings during the school year, fails to meet grade eligibility requirements, or displays incompetence in performing their duties.

Article II – Duties of Officers

  1. President - The president shall preside at all regular and special meetings of the club.
  2. Vice-President - The vice-president shall succeed to the office of president in the event of the removal of the latter for whatever cause, and, in the absence of the president, shall preside at all meetings of the club.
  3. Secretary - The secretary shall maintain all club records and shall keep minutes of all meetings of the club. Monthly meeting minutes are to be submitted to the school’s treasurer by the 5th day of after the beginning of each month.
  4. Treasurer - The treasurer shall have custody of club funds, maintaining all necessary records, and depositing all such funds with the School’s treasurer who in turn will make the deposits with a bank approved by the School District Administration. All deposits and disbursements must signed by the treasurer, club sponsor and the school’s appointed treasurer. The treasurer shall report the club’s financial status each meeting of the club, and shall hold all records available for inspection by any club member.

Article III – Meetings

  1. Meetings of the club shall be held at least once a month at a time and place suited to the convenience of the membership. The President with the approval of the advisor may call a special meeting.
  2. A majority of the members in good standing shall constitute a quorum at any regular or special meeting of the club.
  3. No action shall be taken on plans or fundraising until they are approved by a majority of the club membership.
  4. Fundraising Request Forms must be submitted to the Principal and Superintendent for approval before the club begins any fundraising.

Article IV – Dues

Dues may be assigned with the voting approval of a quorum of the club membership.

Article V - Parliamentary Authority

In all matters not specifically covered by these by-laws, the parliamentary authority shall be “Robert’s Rules of Order.”

Article VI - Amendments

These bylaws may be amended by majority vote of the members in good standing at any regular or special meeting of the club at which a quorum is present and is subject to approval by an administrator of Woodland Hills High School.
