The IEEE 802.11 Working Group Task Group n “High Throughput” is issuing a Call for Proposals to be considered under its PAR for development of an extension to the IEEE 802.11-1999 (revision 2003) standard that demonstrates throughputs in excess of 100 Mbps at the MAC SAP.

Deadlines

1.0 Notification of Intent to present: June 18, 2004 (midnight, GMT-5)

The chair of TGn, Bruce Kraemer, shall be notified by email at the above email address with a copy addressed to Garth Hillman () by this date and time of all individual’s intent to present a complete or partial proposal at the September, 2004 Session of the IEEE 802.11 Working Group.

2.0 Submission of Proposal and Related Documents: August 13, 2004 (midnight, GMT-5)

All proposals and related documents shall be submitted to the 802wirelessworld document server by this time to allow TGn to begin execution of its selection procedure, which requires submissions to be available to the membership 30 days in advance of the session at which they will be presented (Figure 1). Should the submitter encounter difficulties please contact either Bruce Kraemer or Harry Worstell (). Submissions should conform to the IEEE 802.11 formatting and numbering conventions. Templates are available on the IEEE 802.11 website at http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/802/11 and document numbers may be obtained from www.802wirelessworld.com .

Since the selection procedure to be used is based on elimination and merging of proposals, it is the intent of Task Group n to disallow from consideration any complete proposals that do not meet these deadlines.

2.1 Selection Procedure

The official selection procedure to be used is contained in document

11-03-0665-09-000n.

2.2 Functional Requirements

As specified in the Selection Procedure, Task Group n has adopted official Functional Requirements as found in document 11-03-0813-12-000n. All complete proposals must meet the requirements in this document. It is the intent of TGn to disallow any complete proposals that do not meet these requirements. A proposal shall declare its compliance with these functional requirements using the template defined in Section 3 of document 11-03-0813-12-000n.

2.3 Comparision Criteria

As specified in the Selection Procedure, Task Group N has adopted official Comparision Criteria. These criteria are to be used as a tool by voting members to assist them in selection the best solution. It is the intent of TGn to disallow any complete proposals that do not answer the questions in the comparision criteria. The official Comparison Criteria are found in document 11-03-0814-30-000n. Form of Disclosure. A proposal shall disclose its results as required by section 3 and as required by the Disclosure column of the comparison critieria table in section 4 of document 11-03-0814-30-000n.

The Comparision Criteria are meant to be a mandatory minimum amount of information for each proposal, thus presenters are allowed to provide any additional information that may be relevant.

2.4 Usage Models

The approved usage models referenced by the Comparison Criteria are contained in document 11-03-0802-23-000n.
