1. Project Description:

The existing visitation area in the Green Bay Correctional Institution is inadequate for staff, visitors and inmates and presents a number of ADA accessibility and observation/supervision challenges. In addition to not being handicapped accessible, the visiting area uses several adjacent rooms for visiting which impairs security supervision of inappropriate behavior and passing of contraband. There are minimal toilet facilities for inmates and visitors. The space is too small to handle the numbers of visits; the Fire Department has imposed a limit of 100 people at a time in this area. This project will construct a new visiting center. A programming study in 2012 studied the visiting needs of the facility. It identified options and made a recommendation for a new visitor’s center to be constructed adjacent to the Processing Building.

Plumbing:Sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water service will be extended to this facility. Connections to the existing utilities would be made in the courtyard south of the Library.

Fire Protection Systems: A new 6” water service will be brought to the addition for domestic water and fire protection. This service will only provide fire protection for the addition and will not be capable of being extended into the existing facilities for fire protection.

HVAC: The existing AHU and condensing unit serving the processing building will be replaced with a larger AHU and CU to serve the existing processing building and new visitors building addition. Existing steam & condensate lines located in a box conduit and serving the processing building willbe upgraded.

Electrical/Fire Alarm/Data/Security:The existing electrical service is adequate for this addition. Fire alarm devices will be added to an existing panel which is monitored by the existing fire alarm network. Telephone and data cabling will be extended from adjacent facilities. The closed circuit inmate monitoring TV system will be upgraded as part of this project. The tele-visit system is antiquated and will be replaced in this project. The existing door access/door control system will be expanded to cover new access and egress paths.

Construction Staging: Construction staging will be on the exterior of the facility.
