Dr. Michael T. "Mick" Maureris currently developing, for the Professional Studies Programs of the Paul McGhee Division of New York University’s(NYU)School for Continuing & Professional Studies (SCPS), a Bachelor of Science in Critical Infrastructure Protection degree program with concentrations in Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Strategic Intelligence, or Business Continuity.This degree will be taught entirely with distance technology.The Paul McGhee Division within the School of Continuing and Professional Studies was created especially for adult students who want to go back to college and earn their degrees.

Dr. Maurerwas an Instructor for the one-year intensive Business Continuity & Homeland Security certificate program in The Center for Management of the Division of Business and Legal Studies of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) at New York University (NYU)from 2003-2006.The program ended in August 2006. Since 2000, he has been an Adjunct Assistant Professor specializing on the Impact of Violence, Disaster, and War &Terrorism upon Adolescent Developmentfor the Department of Applied Psychology in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University (NYU) where he continues to teach. He started at NYU as a research director and co-investigator in October 1999 at CHEST, now called CHIBPS.

Mick was the founder and the first director of the Metropolitan College of New York's (MCNY) Master of Public Administration in Emergency & Disaster Management degree program. He had been a full time Associate Professor in the School for Public Affairs and Administration program at Metropolitan College of New York (MCNY) from September 2001 until August 2005.

He is a member of the International Association of Emergency Managers; and the American Society for Public Administration Section on Emergency and Crisis Management, the Section on Transportation Policy and Administration, and the Section on Public Administration Education. Mick served as a Fire Fighter Support Counselor, for the FEMA/CMHS/FDNY 9/11 Project Liberty Program at the Institute for Community Living, Inc. in Brooklyn, NY.

In 2006 he developed training for the New Jersey Primary Care Association entitled: All-Hazards Mental Health, ICS-300, and an ICS/NIMS Drill. Mick has also been a member of the Citizens Corps Council for the New York City Office of Emergency Management since 2003. Presently Mick is writing Managing the Aftermath of Disaster: Reducing the Social and Psychological Impact on Communities for Greenwood/Praeger Press; as a title in thePraeger Series Disaster Trauma Psychology. On May 6, 2007 he wason the Best Practices panel at The Queens County Forum "Preparing the Preparers: Educating Community Leaders in Emergency Preparedness and Planning"about emergency preparedness within the special needs population. This will be his fifth year attending the FEMA EMI Higher Education Conference.
