Downloading and Uploading Star Data Files into DataDirector

Downloading and uploading is a two part process. Downloading occurs within Ren-Place and uploading occurs within DataDirector. You will need a log in for both systems in order to complete the process.

Note: Only one line of data is allowed to be uploaded for each student during a testing window. DataDirector will automatically skip repeat entries during the upload process. See the STAR Testing Calendar for download dates.

DOWNLOAD:

Select “Personnel, Students, and Parents” à “Export Information” and select the school you would like to work with.

Click “export” then select the appropriate report:

Select “Next” and select a date range (See STAR Testing Calendar for download dates.)

Hit “next” and wait…..when the process is done, you will be presented with a “download” link.

Click the link to download the file. Save the file on your computer and click done.

At this point you should have a CSV file. Clean up the file as necessary. The file should be ready to upload into DataDirector as long as you have the UIC in the STAR Student Id field. If not, see the help file titled STAR “StuId to UIC.doc”, the file can be located in the DataDirector under each assessment.

UPLOAD:

Select Assessments tab.

Click the + on the clipboard next to the STAR Assessment that you would like to upload data for (2010-2011 STAR Reading or 2010-2011 STAR Math).

Select the assessment window that you would like to upload data for by selecting the assessment name.

Select Import Data from the left menu.

Select Browse.

Find the file on your computer, double click the file name, and click Open.

The file should map with a preloaded data map when you follow the step on the screen.

The data is now uploaded into DataDirector.
