DONALD JAMES WATERS

Queensland artist Donald Waters is a man who is passionate about creating art. He believes it as an adventure that must be experienced not only by the artist but also by the viewer.

He sees the world from a spiritual, naïve and beautiful perspective. Listening to Don you are plunged into the vibrant and colourful worlds that he has created on his canvases.

Amongst his many personal ideals there has always been a sense of movement and colour, and one of his series with the elongated figures in childlike situations has emphasized this.

Don’s international career is now gaining momentum having held solo exhibitions in both England and New Zealand. His paintings are included in Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Art Collection and during the Queen’s stay at CHOGM Donald was commissioned to paint a suite of works to hang in the dignitary reception and accommodation areas. This year, as a further testament to his success and contribution to the arts, not only was Don honoured with the Gold Coast ‘Citizen of the Year Award’ for 2010 but he was also nominated by the Gold Coast City Council for the ‘Suncorp Queenslander of the Year’ award.

Don has crossed many milestones and achieved success of which he is proud. His works are held in corporate and private collections nationally and internationally.
