Don Lugo Boys Basketball Program
Dear Prospective/Returning Basketball Players and Parents:
Welcome to Conquistador Basketball! We have prepared this letter to help you in understanding the various aspects of the Don Lugo Basketball program for the summer.
The overall philosophy is to promote individual growth of the student-athlete through the unselfish commitment to the team and Don Lugo. Our goal is to help your son have a great experience playing high school basketball while developing the fundamentals to allow them to be successful during the season.
Summer:
Registration for summer will beginMay23rd (See Coach DeLeon in the Counseling Office)
Practice will begin Monday June 13th– July 29th@ Don Lugo High School Gym
All Levels: 4-6 p.m.Weights: 6-7 p.m.
Cost:
$50 per player (Checks can be made payable to Don Lugo Boys Basketball)
Payment can be made to Finance Office in Room 61, Coach DeLeon in the Counseling Office at Don Lugo, or on the first day of practice.
Fundraising Opportunities:
We will need players and parents to volunteer to assist with our Fireworks booth fundraiser on:
July 2nd from 8 a.m.-11a.m. and 11a.m.-2 p.m.
We will be conducting a youth camp during the summer and will need the assistance of the varsity players to help with running the camp. Camps will be during the middle weeks of July (7/11-7/22)
Please also provide email address and phone numbersto Coach DeLeon to allow communication of upcoming events, information, and fundraising opportunities. We have developed a Don Lugo Boy’s Basketball Facebook Page were information and updates regarding the team can be found.
We would also like to encourage parents to become a member of the Don Lugo Sports Booster, which provides us with support throughout the season. For more information please visit the Don Lugo website under the “Parents” tab on the main page.
Physicals:
Student-athletes must have their physicals completed and turned in to receive clearance from our athletic trainer, Kim Hansen,before they will be allowed to practice. Students must register and can find clearance forms at the website.
Physicals will be conducted on the Don Lugo Campus May 26th from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. for $20.
