I.  Introductions: Present for Southern Delaware Meeting: Dawn Culp, Kathy Keating, Karen Long and Aimee String. Present for Northern Delaware Meeting: Anita Symonds and Aimee String

II.  Old Business

  1. Medical Manual
  2. CEU’s renewal update: The application has been submitted. We are waiting to hear back from the nurses association. The committee felt it would be worthwhile to contact all hospitals to offer training following approval. The committee is also interested in reaching out to local wellness centers.
  3. Update on changes to Medical Manual. Aimee has made many changes to the manual. Anita would like to look at the strangulation section again as she has attended additional trainings and will be training other forensic nurses in the near future.

III.  New Business

  1. Medical Manual Distribution Plan: When distributing the medical manual this time, the committee would like to focus on Pediatricians. Dawn suggested that the Medical Society would be helpful in providing a comprehensive list of pediatricians. The committee was unsure as to how extensive this list would be. We will delve into that deeper once the Medical Manual is complete.

V.  Agency Reports

  1. Anita informed the committee that she participated in a case where and individual was prosecuted for Strangulations. To the committee’s knowledge this is the first prosecution to go through.
  2. The Sussex County DV Forum will take place on Saturday. The Forum is targeted at the Hispanic population and will be completely done in Spanish. There will be a performance by ARTFusion, a panel discussion, food, childcare and resource tables. The event is open to the public and free of charge. Nanticoke will be helping with the event by providing freebies and food.
  3. The Family Visitation Center will be hosting an open house on October 23rd from 9:30-11:30 at the Milford location.
  4. The next DVCC Quarterly Meeting will take place on December 14th at 1:00 at Buena Vista in New Castle.
