Docksiders Boasts Two All-Around Champions in
Charleston, South Carolina!
Docksiders Gymnastics travels their Level 9 & 10 Teams to Charleston, South Carolina for the Charleston Cup held at the North Charleston Convention Center February 24-26th, 2017. In a stiff field of competitors two of the Docksiders gymnasts won their age groups at Level 9. Sarah Zois won the All-Around in the Junior age group with a combined total of 36.975. She placed 1st of both Vault with a 9.45 and on Floor Exercise with a 9.30. She took a 2nd place finish on Uneven Bars with a 9.225. Susan Maranto won the Senior A age group with a 36.625. She was the Uneven Bar Champion with a 9.0, placed 2nd on Vault with a 9.5 and 3rdon Floor Exercise with a 9.225. Many Docksiders Teammates also placed wellin the individual events.
Also at Level 9, in the Junior age group, Julia Heiner placed 2nd All-Around behind Sarah with a 36.65. Julia placed 2nd on Vault as well with a 9.4 and 3rd on Uneven Bars with a 9.125. In the Senior A age group, Kate Wolbart placed 2nd All-Around with a 35.90. Kate had the winning Vault score with a 9.60 and placed2nd on Uneven Bars with an 8.75. In the same age group, Shianne Marbly placed 3rd All-Around with a 35.0, making it a clean sweep of Docksiders in that age group with a 1-2-3 in the All-Around. Shianne also placed 3rd on Floor Exercise. Sara Dugan placed 3rd on Uneven Bars with an 8.275 and Jordan Wagner placed 2nd on Balance Beam with a 9.10. In the Child age group, Holly Snyder placed 2nd All-Around with a 35.825. Holly was crowned the Uneven Bar Champion with a 9.30, placed 2nd on Balance Beam with an 8.95 and placed 3rd on Floor Exercise with a 9.025. Team members Juliet Luers and Emily Burke contributed to the Level 9 Team placing 3rd in the Team Competition.
At Level 10, In the Senior A age group, Rebekah Jenkins placed 2nd All-Around with a season high All-Around of 37.55. She won Floor Exercise with a high score of 9.65, placed 2nd on Vault with a 9.60and 2nd on Uneven Bars with a 9.425. In the Senior B age group, Maria Ramsey placed 3rd All-Around with a 36.075. She also earned a 1st place victory on Balance Beam with a 9.475. In the Junior age group, Ronni Binstock placed 3rd on Vault with a 9.425 and 3rd on Floor Exercise with a 9.40.
Event finals were held on Sunday for the top 8 on each event, across the sessions. Representing Docksiders at Level 10 were Rebekah Jenkins on Vault, Uneven Bars and Floor Exercise; and Maria Ramsey on Balance Beam. At Level 9, Holly Snyder was in Uneven Bars event finals, while Kate Wolbart, Sara Zois, Julia Heiner and Susan Maranto were all in Vault finals. It was a great showing for Docksiders.
