ORDER GRANTING MOTION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME
(Issued January 31, 2018)
On October 31, 2017, the Commission issued Order No. 4196, conditionally adding Parcel Select Contract 24 to the competitive product list.[1] Order No. 4196 directed the Postal Service to report contract-specific volumes, costs, and workhours on a quarterly basis, with the first report due January 30, 2018. Order No. 4196 at 9. On January 26, 2018, the Postal Service filed a motion requesting an extension of the deadline for filing the first report to February 9, 2018.[2]
The Postal Service justifies its Motion by explaining that it is experiencing technical difficulty obtaining the scan data used in calculating the volume distributions for this contract. Motion at 1. Until this issue is resolved, the Postal Service only has data available for November 2017. Id. The Postal Service hopes to have the technical issues resolved by February 9, 2018, and will otherwise file a status report with the Commission.
The Motion is granted. The Commission finds that the extension will afford the Postal Service the necessary time to file a complete quarterly data report as required by Order No. 4196.
It is ordered:
1. The USPS Motion for Extension of Time to File Quarterly Data Report, filed January 26, 2018, is granted.
2. The due date for the first quarterly data report required by Order No. 4196 is extended from January 30, 2018, to February 9, 2018.
By the Commission.
