ANR New Hire Checklist
____Reminder: You must contact Emily Schutzman in the ANR Business Operations Center at
530-750-1297 or at when it becomes time to plan the move in order to ensure that expenses are allowed by UC Policy and/or established practice(s) in advance of making your relocation plans.

Directions for Paperwork:
- Please fill out the Academic Personnel Action Form (APA Form), Section V. Citizenship/VISA, and sign and date the form.
- Please scan and password protect the employment paperwork and APA Form as one file in PDF format. Below are instructions on how to set up password protection in PDF.
- Email password protected file (this includes the Academic Personnel Action Form the supervisor signed and completed employment forms) within 3 business days tothe appropriate contact person at the Business Operations Center below. Immediately after sending the file, send a separate email with the password.

- Once you forward the forms and the BOC enters the employment information into the payroll/personnel system, they will send the academic’s UC employeeID number to the supervisor via e-mail. The academic can then, if eligible, enroll in benefits and obtain email accounts.
Enrolling in Benefits:
- If eligible, your new academic can learn about and sign up for benefits at:
- The period of initial eligibility (PIE) is 31 days from date of employment to enroll in benefits.
Setting Up Email Accounts:
- The academicshould sign up for an e-mail account (if the headquarter is located at Davis, County or a REC)at by clicking on “Get your UC Davis Computing Account.” If the academic isheadquartered at UCOP, s/he will get a UCOP email address instead.
- Once a UC Davis email account is created, s/hewill need to obtain a ucanr.edu email address. Unfortunately, this is a “manual” process. To get a ucanr.edu email address, please have the academic contact Damon DiPietro @ and he will initiate the new email process.
- Your new academic has been added to the UC ANR Directory. Once s/he gains access to the
ANR Portal, please ask your new hire to search for his/her name and edit their information at
