Personal Assistant / Are you looking for a rewarding career? Could you support someone to live the life they want to live? Do you believe that life is for living, whether you have a disability, health condition or not? If so, a career at the Thistle Foundation might be the right option for you.
We are looking for a male* PA to join the team of a lovely young man who we support. He has a busy, full life with lots of activities and would need assistance with getting out to these as well as running his home, shopping and cooking. He particularly loves long walks, enjoys working with animals and volunteering at local farms and within his community. He needs support in developing his skills and hobbies further. He can show some challenging behaviour, which has to be redirected by the team.
You would be joining an existing small team and some admin tasks are required as well as taking part in meetings. Good communication skills are essential. Everyone on the team gets to know the person they support really well, building real and lasting relationships with him and helping him to lead a great life.
Shifts are on a four rolling rota basis on various days. After a satisfactory probationary period one sleepover per week would be included in the role: this involves staying overnight in the person’s home where you would have your own room to sleep in for the night and for which you would be paid an additional rate. Taking part in an on call system would also be a part of the role; again an additional payment is made for this.
A driving licence is desirable for this post.
Applicants must have, or be willing to work towards a qualification meeting the standards required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council.
In return you will have the satisfaction of working for an organisation at the cutting edge of designing individualised support arrangements that make a real difference to people’s lives. You will receiveexcellent training on full pay and you will be eligible to apply for our fully funded SVQ.
You will also enjoy an enhanced staff benefits package and staff contributory pension, childcare voucher scheme, and FREE membership of the Hospital Saturday fund which, after completion of a satisfactory probation period, can be extended to cover all immediate family members.
