- Approval of Minutes – minutes approved with minor changes.
- Business Arising
- Calendaring
- The list of sessions on “Tours and Workshops” page will be replaced with monthly calendar. We will be using “LibCal” from the LibGuides, and Rose will add content into calendar. This will go live for Spring term.
- Data form
- The updated data form is completed and in place. All agree it is helpful and easy to use.
- Upgrade to HD videos
- Patrick has updated all the videos and Dave has uploaded them to the YouTube playlist.
- Future of screen casts and LINC
- Leeanne will meet with ISR department heads to discuss the future direction of LINC and videos.
- LibGuide for assignment calculators
- Helena will work on this.
- Updates/Reports
a. Point of Need working group -- Kathy S as LINC representative
Locations for videos have been listed on a spreadsheet, and the subgroup will work with website page owners to post videos.
ACTION: Kathy will send e-mail update of subgroup progress
b. Screen cast subgroup update -- Rachel and Martha
Membership of subgroup is Rachel, Martha, Sarah, Patrick and Meredith.
The “Creating screen casts for LINC” document is still being worked on by subgroup.
Document was sent out for review prior to meeting and comments from committee members were submitted incorporated into the current draft.
Some suggestions from the committee:
- LINC's Areas of responsibilities need to be determined. Does anything
“instructional” become LINC's responsibility?
- Only “LINC solicited” videos and LINC workshop related screencasts should be LINC's responsibility.
- Who on the committee identifies the expert?
- Screencast creators should consult with LINC as well as an expert on specific topic.
- Point of need: Creator/Expert could suggest locations and review with the owner of the page. Who makes the contact with the page owner? Requestor? LINC liaison?
- Include ‘putting videos into the Repository’ in the Process section.
- Three documents should be created: Governance, Process and Tech.
- It was recommended that a LINC member should be appointed as a
screencast coordinator.
The Policy/Governance document was discussed, and suggestions for content included:
- Editing and possible removal of videos, due to complaints or issues raised
- Editing and correction procedures including downtime and when correction
is required
- Determining how the screen cast coordinator is designated
- Procedures for updating all locations where videos are embedded
- Creating a master list of where all videos have been embedded or stored
- Clearly identifying LINC videos as LINC creations.
- LINC’s relationship to library videos created by others.
- detailed definitions/descriptions of roles
ACTION : Subgroup will draft/compile a new threefold document (including
Governance, Process, and Tech sections).
- Online Tutorials page reorganization -- Kathy and Rachel
Proposed changes to page include student friendly language, renaming of categories,
and addition of section anchors.
ACTION: Rachel will implement the changes.
- Around the Table
Helena volunteered to analyze New Faculty and Grad Student lesson plan and
description, and to make changes as needed.
