Educational Technology Grant Program Instructions
2008-2009
Overview:
Brevard’s Educational Technology Grant Program (ETGP) is funded through a GovConnection rebate program for the purpose of improving teaching and learning. The ETGP will provide awards for proposals that creatively and productively use educational technology to enhance methods of instruction and our students’ educational experience.
While there is no prescription of particular outcomes for the various Proposal s that will be funded, we do seek to:
- Enhance the quality of teaching and learning, and
- Increase instructional effectiveness and/or efficiency
Who may apply?
Any instructional staff personnel now employed by a BrevardCounty public school may apply. Non-instructional personnel (i.e. Technology Specialists) may apply as a co-applicant with a qualified instructional staff personnel. A school may submit more than one Proposal for consideration however, only one grant per applicant may be sent submitted. Grants submitted from the same school or multi-sites must each be original proposals to be considered.
When is the proposal due?
The deadline is Friday, October 31, 2008. All required forms must be received at the Educational Services Facility (ESF) Viera in the office ofEducational Technologyby 5:00 P.M. on that date or the proposalwill not be considered.
How much funding may be requested?
The range of the awards is from $500 to a maximum $1,000 per proposal.
How may the grant money be spent?
Awards can be used for the purchase of materials or services necessary to implement the project, e.g., hardware, software, and equipment. However, awards may not be used for such items as:
- Faculty or staff salaries
- Equipment or supplies not directly related to the objectives of the project
How will proposals be reviewed?
Proposals will be reviewed by an ETGP review committee utilizing the attached ETGP Scoring Rubric.Applicants should use the ETGP Scoring Rubric as a guide in preparing the proposal. Proposals are expected to contain specific content following the section-by-section description of proposal requirements when writing the proposal.
To prevent any conflict of interest this is a blind or anonymous proposal review. On page 1 of the Proposal Information Sheet, please list the school, teacher name and other identifying information. DO NOTput any information on the pages following the Proposal Information Sheet that would allow the ETGP review committee to identify the teacher, school or area of the county.

The Educational Technology Grant Program is intact for the 2008/2009 school year. All BPS Instructional staff are eligible to apply. The maximum award for a single proposal will be $1,000.00.
Instructions for filling out this form are attached. PLEASE TYPE AND EDIT.
