A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE PINEWOOD PREPARATORY SCHOOL BOYS SOCCER TEAM ON ITS OUTSTANDING WIN OF THE 2006 SCISA CLASS AAA SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP, AND TO HONOR THE PLAYERS AND THEIR COACH, WINSTON HELMS, ON AN EXCEPTIONAL SEASON.
Whereas, excellence in soccer demands individual strength, agility, and skill, as well as team play and good sportsmanship; and
Whereas, using those talents and attributes, Coach Winston Helms and the members of the Pinewood Prep Boys Soccer Team capped the season by winning the SCISA Class AAA Soccer Championship; and
Whereas, defeating Ben Lippen to take the state title, players remained resolute and focused throughout the match, working together to secure their 30 victory; and
Whereas, the team scored its first goal within the first nine minutes of the match, giving the players an early lead and an added boost of confidence; and
Whereas, maintaining a 20 advantage by the end of the first half, the team kept its momentum in the second half, blocking several attempted Ben Lippen goals; and
Whereas, the 2006 win marks the third consecutive state championship win for the team; and
Whereas, hardworking athletes included: Pierce Wehman, Joe Sweet, Carlos Grover, Tim Hanna, Elliott Hitchcock, J.D. Spearman, Alex Filo, Joe Kredich, Blaise Creech, Ben Reidmayer, Ben Allen, Tony Artman, Caleb Hanna, Trey Reidmayer, Johnny Corella, Malcolm Reed, Zach Thurmes, and Daniel Bowers; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly take great pride in commending the young men of the Pinewood Prep Boys Soccer Team for their tireless efforts and great determination in an outstanding season and recognize them as veritable model student athletes. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Pinewood Preparatory School Boys Soccer Team on its outstanding win of the 2006 SCISA Class AAA Soccer Championship, and honor the players and their coach, Winston Helms, on an exceptional season.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Winston Helms.
