Find a Book in the Sullivan Library
To find a book in the Sullivan Library use the library’s online Card Catalog and search by book’s author, title, or subject. The Library provides books in paper format and electronic copies.
Periodical Articles
Periodical articles can be located either through the Library’s electronic or print resources. Paper formatted journals are located in the periodical section of the Library. To ascertain whether or not the Library subscribes to a journal in hard copy go to the Online Card Catalog and check under periodical titles. Paper journal titles are listed as a book entry for ownership purposes.
Over 23,000 full text electronic journals can be accessed through the computers housed in the Library. From outside the Library these titles can be accessed through remote access.
Borrowing Privileges
Facultymay check out books for a period of one semester. You must be registered with our on-line circulation system before being allowed to check out any materials. The borrower's is responsible for the replacement cost if the book(s) is damaged or lost.
Collection Development
The librarians welcome and encourage participation from faculty and staff as we continue to develop our library's collections.One quick way you can help us to continue to add a relevant item to our collection is to send us your syllabi each semester. Your syllabi are important to our ongoing Collection Development project. If we do not already own them, we will attempt to purchase those titles that are listed as "recommended readings."
Suggest an item for purchase
The library welcomes yoursuggestions of titles to be added to the Library collection.
Be sure to provide complete bibliographic information for the item you are suggestion suggesting. For DVDs, audio recordings, and/ or electronic databases contact John Barrie, Director of the Library at x7500 or .
Reciprocal Borrowing
The Dominican College library has reciprocal borrowing agreements with St. Thomas Aquinas and Nyack Colleges. Members of each academic community may use either library and check out any circulating materials using your DC 1 Card.
Interlibrary Loan & Document Delivery
Books, articles, and other materials that are not available at Dominican College may be requested from other libraries through interlibrary loan. It takes an average of ten days for us to receive an item once a request has been placed. For more information contact Amy Haase-Thomas at x7501 or .
Photocopying
Faculty members must use their DC1 card to make photocopies of materials in the library. They may also authorize secretaries, research assistants, or students to photocopy library materials for them using their DC1 card.
Classroom Support
Course Reserves
Faculty may place books (either library or personal copies), articles or other items on reserve as supplemental course materials. To request how to place materials on reserve contact Mrs. Andes at x7502.
Library Instruction
The Dominican College librarians offer orientation tours and course-related instruction. These can be course-specific or general library sessions customized to meet your course goals and students needs. For informationcontact John Barrie, Director of the Library, at x7500 or .

Research Support
Remote Access
Faculty can access the Sullivan Library’s databases from any computer on the Dominican College network. When attempting to access the Library’s database, from any location outside the Library, you will be prompted to enter your User ID and Password. If you have forgotten or never received your RDA User ID or Password you can contact John Barrie (x7500, ), Amy Haase-Thomas (x7501, ) or Sam Heye (x7505, )

Display of Faculty Publications
Recent publications by faculty members can be displayed in Sullivan Library. If you would like your publication displayed, please send it to the Director of the Library.
Deposit of Faculty Publications
