LAKESIDE LITTLE LEAGUE OPENING DAY 2015

OPENING DAY

The big day is almost here! Opening Day is a fun time for all and we are looking forward to a positive and fun experience. This is one of the few times that kids will be able to see the others players in their uniforms and the families will be able to be together in one location.

Here are the things that you need to know:

Where to go?

Drop off will be at Granite Bay High School Parking lot at 8:15 am. Vendors will be selling breakfsdt burritos, coffee and Bill’s donuts to our coaches and players in the school parking lot. AT LEAST 1 parent volunteer from each team will be needed to greet the children at the front entrance of the school (by the bear) and usher them back to the parking area. Children will be accompanied by their coaches and managers in the parade. DO NOT BE LATE! We will begin the parade on time at 9:00 am. Please park at Feist Park, Oakhills or Ridgeview Elementary. Please do not park in the staff parking lot at Ridgeview that is where the floats will park once they drop off all players to Feist. After you park please walk back to the parade route on Elmhurst.

What to wear?

Players should be dressed in their full uniform. No cleats or baseball equipment please. Please tell parents to be sure their children are dressed and ready to go when they arrive at the GBHS. Parents are encouraged to show their team spirit by wearing their child’s team colors or spirit shirts.

Parade Details

We will begin the parade at 9:00 am sharp! We will be exiting the main parking area of GBHS and go left on Wellington Way, we will turn left onto East Roseville Parkway then left onto Elmhurst, we will turn left on Twin Schools Road, then left into Feist Park. Each team is responsible for AT LEAST two bags of candy to throw out to the spectators standing on Elmhusrt as teams pass by. You can gather with your family & friends anywhere along Elmhurst (the parade route). Bring cameras, wear team colors, bring signs for your kids, cheer with us, and have lots of fun. The kids LOVE seeing you shout their names from the sidewalk. The spectators LOVE receiving candy from the parade riders!

What is a float?

Each team will have a “float.” This float can be a flat bed truck, a boat, a pickup truck, a mini van, a tractor, anything that can pull the players of your team and can be decorated. The week before the parade teams will get together and decorate their “floats” in their team colors, team names, player’s names etc. On the day of the parade players will ride in their floats on the parade route waving to all their fans!

Opening Ceremony will begin around 10:00 am or whenever all the players make it to Feist Park – AAA field.

Once the players arrive at Feist Park, team managers and coaches will walk their teams out onto their designated area on the AAA field. Players will be a part of opening ceremonies so they need to stay with their teams in order. Opening ceremonies will begin around 10:00 am and should last about a half hour. Parents and families are encouraged to watch facing the AAA field. Players will be running the bases and high fiving Dinger at home plate so get your camera ready!

After Opening Ceremony

Locate your child’s team and pick up your child from their manager / coach on the AAA outfield.
