Anthony Nolan's IT Team is constantly striving to improve the capability of our systems to support the life saving work of our organisation. The Head of Digital Programmes is responsible for defining and leading the implementation of Anthony Nolan’s Digital Strategy. They will work:

  • With all areas of the Charity and key stakeholders (including volunteers, donors, patients and clinicians) to identify areas where digital solutions can bring potential benefit, and
  • With IT, Marketing and Communications and third parties to deliver the components of the strategy.

Main responsibilities

  • Work with relevant stakeholders to define a Digital Strategy for the Charity specifying the vision, goals, opportunities and initiatives which will maximise the business benefits of digital initiatives to the organization.
  • Identify and prioritise a set of digital initiatives to deliver the vision.
  • Build compelling business cases, supported by proofs of concept/prototypes) to gain approval to implement projects/initiatives.
  • Lead the management of digital projects in support of the strategy by building virtual project teams
  • Continually improve the effectiveness of the Charity’s digital presence

Experience

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent ability in:

  • Effective management of internal and external stakeholders including agencies, designers, freelancers and other third parties
  • Competitor analysis
  • Leadership of, or significant contribution to, development of digital strategy
  • Full lifecycle Digital project, including project budgetary responsibility
  • Digital portfolio management.
  • User experience optimisation
  • Creation of business cases supported by proofs concept / prototypes using tools including: Drupal, HTML/XHTML, CSS, Photoshop, Illustrator/Flash, JavaScript
  • Experience of the following are not essential but may be advantageous
  • ASSIMPLER blueprinting framework or similar approach to defining digital strategy/architecture.
  • Analysis of user behavior across multiple channels.
  • Data protection principles

Key Responsibilities / deliverables

  • Definition of the Digital strategy for the Charity
  • Creation and delivery of digital products in support of the strategy, including
  • Writing functional specs
  • Creating proofs of concept, wire frames and clickable prototypes
  • Defining user journeys, site flows, site maps/ navigation structures
  • Use case scenario planning
  • Consideration of data protection/ security issues
  • Creation of technical briefs and technical specifications
  • Use of web analytics to improve performance of online presence
  • Creating a measurement plan – using key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of the digital strategy
  • Defining / contributing to
  • The technical architecture design to meet the needs of the business vision and conform to the business plan and roadmap.
  • The governance model – the organizational structure, roles, and process description of how the Charity will manage the initiatives in a digital strategy and support the services once they are in-place
  • Defining and communicating the Digital Roadmap – detailing the delivery of all the initiatives in the digital strategy.
