Some Ideas withthe Letter (please do not copy and paste this letter, use your own words!)
As you know, a challenge that we have taken up for our youth program is to go on a mission trip to Mexico. We are going with the mission team from Azusa Pacific University. It is a school in California that sponsors and organizes mission opportunities for high school and junior high students. We are leaving for Mexico on April 2, and will be home April 12.
While in Mexico we will be doing Vacation Bible School for younger kids, a women's ministry for the ladies at the churches, and playing some soccer and other sports with the older kids. We might also have some opportunity to do light construction. We have about 70 of us going including interpreters and adult leaders. Two smaller youth groups are also joining us. This should be a great time for the high school students to experience the need and the opportunities to serve in a developing world country.
This trip will cost a total of almost $60,000 dollars, which comes out to about $950 a person. I am currently trying to raise my part of this amount. I am really excited about the opportunity to try and do ministry outside of our country and in a totally different culture. This should be a great challenge for me personally, but also in allowing God to do the work and not me!
I would ask that you consider supporting me in this trip. Any financial support would be greatly appreciated, but please don’t feel badly if you can’t support me financially. It would, however, be appreciated if you could be in prayer for us as we go to Mexico. If you have any questions please give me a call ______(YOUR PHONE #). Please make checks out to Maple Valley Presbyterian Church. Send the checks to:______(your name), at ______ (YOUR ADDRESS!)
I will make sure this gets into our mission account. Thanks again for all your prayers and support. I look forward to telling you about the great things that happened in Mexico when I get home!!
