2012 SENIOR GRADUATION INFORMATION /REQUIREMENTS

- All caps/gowns/graduations supplies must be paid for and picked up in the office no later than May 10, 2012.
- School fines: Make sure all fines and fees have been paid and documented prior to May 12, 2012. No Hirschi diploma will be issued to any student if fines/fees are unpaid. No Hirschi senior will be allowed to participate in graduation ceremonies if fines/fees are unpaid. These fines and fees include, but are not limited to the following;
- Lost textbooks
- Damaged textbooks
- Lost paperback books
- Damages paperback books
- Athletic picture placements
- Athletic uniforms-both practice and game uniforms
- Lock/locker fees
- Fund raiser item/money
- Band equipment
- Orchestra equipment
- Choir robes/shirts
- Cheerleader payments
- Trip fees/payments
- Library fines
- JROTC Uniforms, etc.
- Graduation Instructions and Requirements
- Rehearsal for all graduating seniors will be held in the Hirschi auditorium on May 22, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. Rehearsal for all graduation seniors will be held at the Kay Yeager Coliseum, May 23, 2012 at 3:30 p.m.
- ALL REHEARSALS, BOTH AT HIRSCHI AND THE COLISEUM, ARE MANDATORY. ATTENDANCE WILL BE TAKEN.
- IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND BOTH OF THESE PRACTICE SESSIONS, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TAKE PART IN GRADUATION CEREMONIES ON May 26, 2012.
- At all rehearsals, be in your seat or assigned area on time.
- Do not bring food or drinks to either rehearsal session.
- Rehearsals will last approximately one hour to 1 ½ hours each day.
- TELL YOUR PARENTS AND EMLOYERS NOW! YOU MUST ATTEND THESE SESSIONS.
- DRESS CODE REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL GRADUATION SENIORS
- Female Graduates
- Wear a dark dress, shirt or blouse, or black/brown skirt.
- Wear low-heeled shoes, no high heels will be allowed. Shoes should have a heel that is 1” to 1 ½” in height.
- Your shoes must be dress type in black or dark brown.
- NO white or tan colored shoes will be allowed.
- Do not wear shorts.
- Do not carry a purse.
- FEMALE GRADUATES WILL USE GOOD JUDGMENT IN THEIR SELECTION OF ANY TYPE OF JEWELRY.
- Male Graduates:
- Wear a white or light colored shirt with a collar and a dark tie.
- Wear dark dress pants/slacks
- Dark colored dress shoes.
- MALE GRADUATES WILL NOT WEAR ANY TYPE OF EARRING, NOSE RING, ETC., OR ANY SUCH ITEMS OF ATTIRE.
- NO GRADUATE, MALE OR FEMALE, WILL WEAR SANDALS, ANY TYPE OF FLIP FLOPS, OR TENNIS SHOES.
- WICHITA FALLS ISD DRESS CODE, STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT,
HIRSCHI CODE OF CONDUCT AND HIRSCHI DRESS CODE APPLIES TO ALL STUDENTS DURING GRADUATION PRACTICES AND CEREMONY.
6. ANY GRADUATE THAT DOES NOT FOLLOW THE GRADUATION DRESS
CODE REQUIREMENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO “WALK’ THE STAGE
WITH FELLOW GRADUATES. DO NOT DISAPPOINT YOUR FAMILY,
FRIENDS, YOUR TEACHERS AND YOURSELF BY NOT BEING ABLE TO
FOLLOW SIMPLE RULES AND INSTRUCTIONS.
7. Mortarboard:
a. Wear the mortarboard cap with the longest part in the back, the front pointed
well down on the forehead and the tassel on the RIGHT HAND SIDE. The cap
will sit square on the head, no tilt. No adjustment will be made to the cap in any
way or manner.
8. The graduation ceremony will take place in the Kay Yeager Coliseum at the MPEC on
Saturday May 26, 2012, 2:00 p.m.
9. All graduates participating in the graduation ceremony MUST be in the graduate
“holding area” at the MPEC Center no later than 12:45p.m.,Saturday,May 26, 2012.
10. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR 3X5 INDEX CARD WITH YOUR COMPLETE
NAME AS SHOWN ON THE DIPLOMA. YOU WILL RECEIVE THIS CARD
FROM THE COUNSELING STAFF SATURDAY MORNING.
Do your part to make this ceremony a dignified celebration of excellence that you and your family will remember with pride.
When you walk into the coliseum, take part in all graduation ceremonies and procedures, walk across the stage and exit the coliseum, you will be expected to behave in a manner befitting a student attending Hirschi Math-Science IB Magnet High School. The “eyes” of Wichita Falls will be upon you-judging you and the school by your actions.
When you walk across the stage, you will receive an empty diploma case. After the ceremony, in the initial “holding area”, you will receive your diploma IF EVERYTHING WENT AS EXPECTED BY THE STAFF OF HIRSCHI.
ONLY YOU ARE ALLOWED TO RECEIVE THIS DIPLOMA-NOT YOUR FAMILY OR FRIENDS.
THERE WILL BE NO HAND GESTURES, WAVING, SALUTING, TEC FROM ANY HIRSCHI STUDENT. THIS APPLIES TO WALKING INTO THE COLISEUM, SITTING OR STANDING IN THE COLISEUM. YOU WILL REPRESENT HIRSCHI HIGH SCHOOL, THE STAFF, YOUR PARENTS AND YOURSELF IN THE MANNER EXPECTED AND EXPRESSED IN THIS BULLETIN. ANY STUDENT NOT FOLLOWING THESE BASIC RULES AND PROCEDURES WIL BE ESCORTED FROM THE COLISEUM BY THE HIRSCHI ADMINISTATOR AND WICHITA FALLS POLICE DEPARTMENT. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RETURN TO YOUR SEAT. YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE YOUR DIPLOMA. YOU WILL RECEIVE A TICKET FOR DISRUPTION OF A PUBLIC EVENT.
YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO RETURN TO HIRSCHI HIGH SCHOOLON JUNE 10, 2011 TO MEET WITH THE HIRSCHI ADMINISTRATION AND EXPLAIN YOUR ACTIONS. THEN AND ONLY THEN, WILL A DIPLOMA BE GIVEN.
11. Life Touch Studios will be taking photographs of individual graduates as they receive
their diploma cover from a Wichita Falls ISD Board of Trustee Member. The proofs
of the photograph will be sent to each graduate’s home address. The decision to
purchase the photograph should be made at that time. The cost usually is between $10
and $25.
SENIOR MEETING
- There will be two (2) senior meetings scheduled before the month of May.
- All seniors and their parent/guardian are required to attend one (1) of the two (2) scheduled meetings.
- The first meeting scheduled for March 29, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. in the Hirschi auditorium.
- The second meeting is schedule for April 19, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hirschi Auditorium.
- All graduation seniors and parent/guardian are required to attend one of these meetings.
- Graduations rules, procedures, etc. will be discussed and shared with all participating seniors and family so there will be no misunderstandings.
IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN GRADUATION, LET MRS. JACKSON KNOW BEFORE THE SCHEDULED MEETINGS. YOU WILL NOT BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE SESSIONS IF YOU ARE NOT WALKING THE STAGE.
TELL YOUR PARENTS AND EMPLOYERS ABOUT ALL THE DATES YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND.
