The Worcestershire Safeguarding Adults Board (WSAB) is in the process of developing an engagement strategy. The aim of the strategy is to strategically involve service users who have used safeguarding services and those in the community who have a role in supporting them. Involving service users in safeguarding is now at the heart of the process and our intention is to make safeguarding personal. We are changing how we did things previously and engagement at a strategic level is a learning process for everyone involved.

The first step is to hold Engagement Workshops in the South and North of the County on Thursday, 14th January 2016 to hear from those who provide support to service users. The Board would like to hear from you or those within your network that may have this role. The second step will be to meet with service user groups directly to hear their views.

I would be pleased if you could join with us to begin this important work. The workshop details are given below:

Workshop Title:

Exploring Engagement of People who have Experienced Safeguarding

Aims:

To plan how the Board can engage with adults who have experienced safeguarding processes so that:

– People can have a voice on the Board

– The Board listens to people and learns from their experience

– This informs the future development of strategic plans and priorities
