BEE Athletic Boosters Meeting
February 2, 2014
Attendees: Dan Kalinsky, Chip Bell, Jennifer Starinsky, Mary Grace Dimitrijevs, Beth O’Donnell, JoAnn Farwell, Tim Frajter, Donna Nowacki, Len Nowacki, Ron Ring, Cindy Ring, Dave Speck, Dave Zelis, John Graham, Karen Graham, Suzanne Sorige, Cindy Klaus, Sue Sivic, Usi Gennger, Baljeet Khosa Seibert, Maria Burnett, Catherine Wurts, Julie Sebalos, Nancy Schlabig and Mark Wirkus.
President, Beth O’Donnell, called the meeting to order at 7:02 at The Pickle Works.
President, Beth O’Donnell:
· Welcome to everyone in attendance. Thank you to all team reps and members for attending tonight. Tickets for March Madness will be distributed tonight,
First Vice President, Ron Ring:
· March 21 is the March Madness fundraiser. This year’s goal is $15,000. Committee chairs were announced. Tickets can be ordered on-line using Pay Pal. The event will include a silent auction and raffles, with a 32 inch Smart TV as a door prize. Sign up Genius is being used to record volunteers. Teams are being asked to sponsor an event.
· Booster fund-raisers go for big-ticket items that help all teams.
Second Vice President, Chip Bell:
· Nothing to report.
Secretary, Mary Grace Dimitrijevs:
· Nothing to report.
· Nancy Schlabig made a motion to approve the December Regular minutes. Jennifer Starinsky seconded the motion. JoAnn Farwell made a motion to approve the December Executive minutes. Ron Ring seconded the motion. A voice vote was held. The motion carried.
Treasurer, JoAnn Farwell:
· Total equity is $26,074.28.
· Varsity letters and trophies are being purchased.
· Ron Ring made a motion to approve the December financial report. Jennifer Starinsky seconded the motion.
Membership, Julie Seballos:
· Julie will distribute March Madness tickets to team reps after regular meeting.
Team Reports, Jennifer Starinsky :
· Hockey team is having a great season. They have won 21 and lost 7.
· Basketball team has 11 wins and 4 losses. Currently in second place in the SWC.
· The track team has more than 30 girls. BBHHS will be hosting 7 track meets this year.
· Girls’ and Boys’ swim teams took first place in SWC. Several school records were set this year. Sectionals are next Friday.
· Gymnastics team is dominating. Beauty and the Beast was rescheduled due to school being canceled. States are March 7.
High School Athletic Director, Dan Kalinsky:
· Wrestling team is moving on to state semi-finals.
· Swim teams are both conference champions.
· Gymnastics team’s, Alecia Farina, recorded the first perfect score in Ohio High School Athletic Association history with a perfect 10 vault.
· The high school gym will be used to host several upcoming events.
Allocation Requests:
· The wrestling team is requesting $300 to be used to help offset cost of running hospitality room at sectionals. Executive committee will vote on this request.
· The boosters will be asked to contribute $30,000 to the turf replacement project. The project will cost a total of $375,000. The district will contribute $200,000, the athletic department will contribute $80,000, scoreboard sponsors will contribute $20,000, Ganley will donate $10,000 and athletic teams will contribute $25,000. The project is scheduled for this summer. The general membership will vote on this request at the March meeting.
Old Business:
· Earth Day lacrosse and Easter Seals event will be April 24-25. The Easter Seals fundraiser will be combined with metal recycling to raise funds for the athletic boosters.
· Thank you to all team reps for attending and picking up March Madness tickets.
