iSPORTSMAN ANNOUNCEMENT NOTICE #02- SENT OUT FRIDAY SEPTEMBER01, 2017
ORIGINAL EMAIL
All:
I am happy to report that the iSportsman site is up and operational. Below are some how-to guides for common actions.
Users can now:
1) Create an account for themselves.
This is the first step. Users must register, fill in all fields, and choose the correct user type. Once complete, the account will be vetted and approved by the iSportsmanadmins. As this approval could take up to two days, those needing immediate approval to the system can contact the Round Pond desk(845) 938-2503for quicker service. Erroneous or incomplete applications will not be approved, and perspective users notified of their hold status via e-mail. Currently there are approximately 100 users in the system. We are not currently accepting General Public (AKA DMU hunter) accounts at this time.
2) Purchase a permit.
Verified users can now purchase permits online via credit card. Verification of the secure connection to the correct Treasury account has been a long process, but as of last night the service is now live. Users must first review the UXO safety brief in order to access the permits for sale. Cash sales may still be completed in person at Round Pond. Note that we have a variety of new options for users, including a combination permit and new guest pass options. Please note too that the fee schedule has changed as well. The iSportsman service is a pay service, and to cover this cost as well as stocking costs we had to raise the rates for the first time in over ten years. We do offer cheaper daily, weekly, and monthly pass options for the occasional user not needing full year-long access. Users are also reminder that the West Point permit does not take the place of the New York and Federal licenses and stamps, and that those will be needed prior to going afield.
All current users have been assigned a temporary WP hunting permit while the Pay.gov account problem was working. These can be used immediately. All others must now purchase a WP permit.
3) Check into and out of an area.
With a valid permit users can now checkin to hunting areas. There is no current need to register while fishing - follow range access procedures, but this process is being developed for fishing areas occurring inside training areas. There will be no requirement to check in to designated recreational lakes.
Hunters accompanied by a guest do not currently need to sign out their guest in iSportsman. That function is also under development. If hunting with a guest, purchase a guest pass and simply make sure your guest hunts the same area you are checked into and checks in and out with you. Sponsors are limited to two guests per trip.
Access to the I-sportsman home page does not require an account and has links and information useful to the sporting community. There you will can find an interactive map of the reservation, the open/closed status of those areas, links and news, West Point bag limits and regulations. Going forward this home page will be the primary site for all the information I'd normally send out on the Newsletter, so as of today I will no longer be using this list serve.
This website is still developing; we are finding and fixing bugs every day, but overall it looks like it'll be a big improvement for recreationalists. Please be patient if the site does not perform as expected. When you hit a snag, let us know so we can help and fix the bug for everyone. (X2314 and x7122)
