Our Program Mission
The Select Leadership Development Program accelerates personal growth, professional development, and leadership identity of high-potential students using principle-based leadership practices. Through the process of self-awareness, application, and growth, students develop skills to differentiate themselves as leaders.
Our Program Goals
Our end goal is to create a select group of future leaders. We accomplish this through laying the foundation for a lifelong process to:
- Develop a deep understanding of and internalizing principle-based leadership
- Gain a desire to lead
- Develop and internalize a sense of integrity, placing emphasis on humility
- Create self-awareness through leadership assessment
- Build business professionalism skills
- Strengthen teamwork skills

Selection Process

Submitted applications will be reviewed and a field of freshman and sophomore first-round finalists will be selected and announced by Tuesday, January 31, 2017. First-round finalists will then complete a detailed Panel Interview. These interviews will take place during the weeks of February 6th and 13th. Those who will be moving on will be announced the week of February 20th. Second-round finalists will then participate in a Final Selection Day, which will involve presentations and activities designed to further assess your leadership potential and fit for our program. This will take place on Saturday, February 25th with final decisions announced within two weeks.

Program Application 2016
The minimum criteria to apply are a 3.2 GPA and a strong desire to develop your leadership potential.
In order to apply for the program, please submit the following items (in one email):
- Application document with responses to the questions below. Please be as specific but concise as possible. Each response should be approximately half a page, double spaced, in a readable font and size.
- Resume. Include your name; year in college; contact information; expected graduation; extracurricular activities, student organizations, and community service with offices held, length in that role, and duties completed; jobs and internships with roles held, length in that role, and duties completed; and any distinctions, honors, and awards.
- One letter of recommendation. The recommendation may be from faculty, staff, former employers, or others able to evaluate your leadership potential.

Application Questions
- Discuss a specific issue you are passionate about. What are ways you would try to resolve this issue? Be specific; use examples if needed.
- What type of leader do you aspire to be? What goals must you meet to accomplish this? How are you working to achieve those goals?
- Identify and explain your personal qualities that differentiate you from the other candidates.
- What do you want to take away from your participation in the Select Leadership Program? What contributions will you make?
- Close with any final thoughts that the selection committee should consider when reviewing your application.
