JOB TITLE: Technology Teacher

SUMMARY: Provides instruction, training, and resources to facilitate the use of technology in the classroom.

REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Technology

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Possesses a thorough knowledge of technology trends in the learning environment.

Leads others in the creative uses of technology in a classroom.

Works effectively with school personnel and the technology team with a customer service focus.

Develops, schedules, and conducts professional learning for staff to successfully integrate technology in the classroom and promote 21st century skills.

Assist in technology planning efforts, including activities to develop, implement, and evaluate both system and school technology plans.

Monitors the progress of technology integration by helping implement assessment processes for measuring the utilization and effectiveness of technology to support continuous improvement.

Research and understand current issues in online learning and the crucial role educational technologies play with respect to increasing student access, engagement and success,

Collaborates with other agencies and districts to offer meaningful professional learning opportunities regionally or state-wide.

Communicates with school and district staff, parents, and community to share information about the technology program.

Plans a technology education program involving demonstrations, lectures, discussions, and student experiments; organizes activities for optimal learning.

Instructs students in the proper use, care and safe handling of equipment.

Demonstrates the ability to decide on the best use of technologies to help students acquire necessary skills, taking into account the different needs and abilities of individual students.

Demonstrates qualities of patience, understanding, trustworthiness and attention to work.

Serves as a resource for technology to all school system personnel.

Manages, secures, and maintains material resources.

Interprets and enforces federal and state laws and state and local board policies.

Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication skills and professional ethics.

9 Month Contract

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 Excellent communication, motivation and teaching skills

 A thorough knowledge about concepts of information technology

 Excellent analytical and observation skills

 Ability to be friendly and compassionate with children

 Excellent planning and organization skills

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university.

Master’s degree (M.A.) from a four-year accredited college or university preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret teacher textbook, general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, teachers, parents, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to figure student percentages for grades and explain how the percentage is derived.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Alabama Class BCertificate with appropriate endorsement.

Alabama Class A Certificate preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Occasional restraining of out of control children is necessary. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
