2017 NDTA Young Logistician
Scholarship Program
WHO ARE WE?
The Association for Global Logistics and Transportation (NDTA), San Antonio Chapter, focuses on sharing ideas and concepts on transportation and logistics practices with partners (public, government, and military) to achieve and maximize rapid logistics capability, efficiencies and economic value, by networking, mentoring, lateral education of industries, and developing young logisticians through scholarship opportunities.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
1. Seniors in high schools throughout San Antonio TX and surrounding area who meet the eligibility requirements may apply for a chance to win up to $1,000 or more in scholarship funds. The San Antonio NDTA Chapter will select one college-bound student as the “2015 NDTA Young Logistician” to receive a $1,000 or more scholarship award and two runners-up.
2. Applicants will be required to submit a 500-word essay about the aspects of logistics as it pertains to procurement, supply chain management, or transportation in relation to a business or operation. Note: student does not have to be pursuing a degree in logistics to apply.
3. Applicants must provide official transcripts, and two letters of recommendation no later than – May 1st, 2017; only the first 50 applicants will be considered. Applications received after May 1st WILL NOT be considered.
3. No later than May 31st, 2017, three applicants will be selected as Semifinalists and notified by mail/ email. The Semifinalists must prepare a 5 to 7 minute (max) presentation on Logistics and present it orally to attendees at the May 2017 San Antonio Chapter General Membership meeting. The time and date of the meeting will be provided to the Semifinalists when notified of selection.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be:
· CURRENT high school (or home-schooled) senior attending school in the San Antonio area
· U.S. Citizen
· Anticipating award of high school diploma at the time of application
· Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution during the 2017-18 school-year
· Carrying a minimum 3.00 GPA at the end of their junior year of high school
