OHSAS 18001 Institutional Level Occupational Safety and Health Objectives Flow Down to Science and Support Organizations
1. Improve the efficiency of Chemical Management System re-inventories by upgrading optical barcodes to Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags. / 1. Science and support organizations coordinate with ES&H field deployed staff to identify areas/containers to be upgraded from optical barcodes to RFID tags. 2. Increase Awareness of Safe Conduct of Research and Implement Contractor Assurance Oversight Utilizing Electronic Surveillances / 1.  Science / Support Managers or designees identify staff members to be trained on electronic surveillance cards applicable for their operations and areas.
2.  Science and Support representatives evaluate operations/areas for a minimum of four (4) topical `areas / surveillance cards.
3.  Encourage staff to participate in webinars, on-site speaker presentations and other safety communication venues. / 12/30/2015

3. Implement Measures that lead to a decrease in the top three (3) injury types/causes (i.e., Manual Lifting, Lacerations, and Slips, Trips and Falls) / 1.  Conduct SME assisted investigations of all manual lifting, lacerations and slips, trips and fall injury events.
2.  Raise awareness within the science and support organizations’ of hazards and control measures via webinars, supervisor interactions with staff and through formal communications.
3.  Support improving General Walking Surfaces; Fixed Stairways; Ladders- fixed and Non-fixed; and Laceration operations by using applicable Electronic Surveillance Cards. Institutional Target is to conduct a minimum of five (5) evaluations in all institutional directorates for each topical area.
4.  To help the site reduce/eliminate slip, trip and fall injuries, encourage staff participation in slip simulator training/use. / 09/30/2016 / Pete Genzer
