Good Morning Hawk Ridge Parents!
Here are some updates for the week!!
Personalized Learning Update
Mrs. Lundgren (K), Ms. Jennings (4th) and I were able to participate in the first CMS Personalized Learning Cohort School Tour at Newell Elementary this past Thursday. We were able to see students and teachers at all grade levels further the work of personalization and the ownership of learning it gives the learner. Some key takeaways we had from the tour were the level of individual data keeping the students took ownership of as well as the use of class meetings to cultivate conversation over how the learning environment/instruction could be enhanced. I applaud Newell Elementary and Principal Jordy Sparks for their approach and look forward to partnering with them as we move this work forward together. On October 22nd, I will be taking two 5th grade teachers to Kennedy Middle School for a tour to look at how they are furthering the work of Personalization.
With parent conferences beginning, I encourage all of our parents to come in with an open mind and give the teacher the opportunity to share with you what they know about your child and their progression. As a school we are working to refine our data tracking processes, the quality of information in the students Math Notebook and the effective level of student ownership/teacher guidance per student. We look forward to sharing a Hawk Ridge video series and opening up some parent tours in the near future.

Boosterthon is HERE!!!
We are excited for our annual Boosterthon Fundraiser to begin next week!! This is always one of the highlights for the year. They pump our students and staff up with their high energy and intentional relationship building. You will see them everywhere from carpool, to lunch, and Dine and Dash Events.Attached you will find the Pre-Program Flier that gives you great information on the program. With the introduction of a new sliding scale, Boosterthon has opened up the opportunity for Hawk Ridge to increase our percentage of take home given the total amount we raise. While this is a fundraiser for our PTA, their program is heavily character/physical fitness driven and there is great learning that takes place as well. Our Kickoff PEP Rally will be held on Monday, October 20th and the FUN Run will be on October 29th. We hope to see you out there cheering!! Please contact our PTA President Chris Egan at f you have any questions.

Students Entering the Building before 7:15am
Students are not allowed to enter the building before 7:15 am. School staff is not required to be here until 7:10 am. Students that are sitting in the lobby before 7:15 am are unsupervised. This cannot take place. Please help us by ensuring this does not happen. If this continues, I may have to lock the doors until the bell rings. Thank you so much for your help with this!
Have a great Hump Day!!
