REQUIREMENTS FOR FRENCH CLASS
Bienvenue à la classe de français! ☺Please read the following paper carefully and keep it in your notebook. You must have this paper signed by a parent or guardian.
1. Textbook: We will be working with a variety of sources.
2. Supplies Needed: Larousse French/English Dictionary(or other equivalent which you can leave at home), pens (any color except red), and a three-ring binder.
*Your notebook should be used only for French.
*Do not use spiral paper or a spiral notebook.
3. Homework: Is assigned FOUR times per week. It will always be checked and sometimes collected and graded. Occasionally you will receive homework over the weekend which counts twice. Today your homework grade is 100%. Four points will be deducted for any homework not handed in. If you forget it in your locker, you will not receive full credit. Two points will be deducted for an incomplete or late paper.
- You will be required to watch films in French at home throughout the year as well as access French websites on a regular basis.
- Doing homework regularly will keep you prepared for pop quizzes!
- If you are absent from class for any reason, you are responsible for the classwork and homework done/assigned that day. You must make up tests, classwork, and homework missed WITHIN TWO DAYS. Write the phone number of two classmates whom you will call to get the work that you missed.

- Restrooms are to be used between classes. Passes will be limited.
**This is a course that culminates with the FLACS checkpoint B exam.
4. Quarterly Grade will be based on:
A. Formal Evaluations (tests, quizzes, orals) 60% _____
B. Devoir Grade20% _____
C. Class Grade:20% _____
(participation, listening, speaking, attitude, effort, and notebook)
*If you do not speak French in class on a daily basis, it will negatively affect your grade.
Class work grade:
A grade for class work will be assessed quarterly for class participation & behavior, quality and completion of homework, REGULAR use of French, attendance and punctuality. If you speak English in class, your grade WILL be adversely affected. The grade is out of a possible 100 points to be determined subjectively as follows:
95-100: Excellent in all aspects. A very high level of involvement. Student uses every
possible opportunity to speak French and demonstrates excellent knowledge
of subject matter. Student follows directions, is attentive, cooperative,
respectful and prepared for class. Homework is consistently well done.
85-94: Good participation. Student raises hand frequently and makes an effort to use
French. Good knowledge of subject matter is evident. Student is generally
attentive, cooperative, respectful and prepared for class. Student may have one
or two missing or incomplete home works.
75-84: Some participation. Student occasionally volunteers. Student does not
generally initiate conversation, but responds to questions. Student may be
occasionally unprepared and/or have missing or poorly done assignments.
65-74: Minimal participation. Student is often inattentive, unprepared, late to class, or
uninvolved in class activities. There is a number of missing home works.
Failing: Student is generally uncooperative. There is no effort to be involved and
Student may exhibit serious behavior and attitude problems.
