Dear Principal: May, 2017

This is an application to participate in the Principal Mentoring Project sponsored by the Idaho State Department of Education. The Principal Mentoring Project is designed to support and assist early career principals who are in their first year(s). You will participate in face-to-face and phone mentoring, as well as professional development institutes in Boise. Your mentor will make quarterly site visits and bi-monthly phone contact at times that are mutually agreed upon. The confidential relationship with your mentor will focus on individualized professional goal setting and information learned at the institutes in Boise.

Dr. Gary Whiteley and Dennis Dunn, the presenters for the Principal Mentoring Project, will provide content, interactive processes, and protocols that support school leaders’ development of cognitive knowledge, interpersonal skills, and intrapersonal awareness. The content, resources, and skills presented at the Boise Institutes will apply directly to your day-to-day work as a school leader. It is strongly encouraged that you participate in all three institutes.

The Idaho Department of Education will sponsor the participation of each school leader by paying the travel, lodging and meal expenses, while at each institute. Early notification of the Institute dates as noted below will hopefully avoid district scheduling conflicts.
