Waste / Provide facilities in school for kitchen to recycle tins, foil, glass, plastic whatever they need / Head to order, whole team to distribute / In place by February half term / By less rubbish in rubbish bins, less litter on ground and more sent to recycling!
Energy / Whole school participation in Switch– Off Fortnight (the Pod) / Team and whole school / 16th-29th November / Monitor energy usage via graphs: should be lower. / Everyone contributed: 20% lower results overall! Now need to build on this momentum
Monitor classroom energy use (e.g. projectors and lights left on), and do weekly competitions / All members on a weekly rota / Ongoing, every Thursday lunchtime / If all classes take part consistently, and energy use goes statistics go down / Working well so far. Do termly ‘championship’ as incentive?
Biodiversity / Outdoor classroom development to increase biodiversity: habitat study/provision; bug hotels, log pile, bricks etc / The Head and Mrs W, with whole team help / End of school year 2016
School Grounds / Each class given an area of grounds to plant and look after / Every class, with Eco Team member for that class leading / Ongoing, but areas assigned when school returns for the new year 2016 / Things start to grow! / Going well, but some classes better than others. Competition needed. Maybe have a gardening week?
Global Citizenship / Earth Day – April 22nd. Whole school focus – all wear green or blue (can raise funds this way). / Whole school. Mrs W to promote. / April 22nd / If pupils take part, we will have raised lots of money for eco projects!
Transport / Take part in Walk to School Week / Whole school / 16-20th May / Class surveys the week before, and during WtSW: numbers should be much lower
Healthy Living / Lunchbox monitors / Year 4 members have volunteered / Ongoing- started after October half tern / Lunchbox monitors to keep a record of findings and look at improvements. / Lots more fruit, but more veg needed! Head could give an assembly?
Green Procurement
(NB- extra section, but could be useful!) / Find supplier of recycled paper for photocopier / Office staff, with Year 6 help / By Christmas holidays / This becomes a regular order / Successful! And money saved too. Now move on to other materials?
