Kids Helping Kids

Thank you for your interest in Guideposts for Kids Comfort Kits. We want your school, church group, or youth organization to take on Comfort Kits as your cause. As a child or an advisor, you’ve come to the right place and we can’t wait for you to get involved helping kids receive comfort and hope.

Getting Started

To get started, discuss your interest in the program with your youth pastor, teacher, or organization leader. Remember, the passion that you present with will affect the outcome. Afterwards, seek appropriate approval from pastor, school board, or organization leader. Once permission is granted, present the idea to your group using pictures and videos that can be found in the photo section of our website.

Choosing a Fundraiser

After you discuss our cause with your group and they know what the Comfort Kit program is all about, you can brainstorm ideas for creating a fundraiser. When deciding on a fundraiser, keep in mind the resources that are available to you such as posters, invitations, prizes and certificates. Maximize space wisely incorporating decorations and Comfort Kit colors. A few fundraising ideas are; a car wash, bake sale, raffle, movie night, lemonade stand, coin drive, and so much more. The opportunities are endless.

Plan your fundraiser

Take time during youth group or group meetings to plan the details of your event. Remember to choose a date and time that is appropriate for your event. Think about the supplies and volunteers you’ll need. You’ll also need to decide who you want your fundraiser to reach for example; there are fundraisers that are appealing to everyone and those that are for a specific age group.

Advertising

Spread the word about your event. There are numerous ways that you get the community involved. At church, you can set up a table before or after church services to further explain, sell tickets, or make an announcement during the service. You can sent out invitations, promote on Facebook/Twitter, go to local radio and TV stations to make an announcement or go around to local business’ and ask for donations while telling them about your cause.

At the Event

On the day of your event make sure that all of your supplies are set up and ready to go. When kids start to arrive, it is ideal to have a sign in/sign out sheet for safety and any parental concerns. When all is accounted for, make sure you have fun!
