Highlights of the Meeting:

1-  Ms. Ulrika Richardson-Golinski informed the meeting participants on the role of LPAC as well as the background of the proposed Project. Ms. Bayazit stated that the new project is based on the achievements and lessons-learned from the current cooperation among UNDP, Ministry of Culture and Tourism on the implementation of Coruh Tourism Development project during the last 4 Years; between 2007 and 2012. She mentioned that Anadolu Efes would like to continue its support in the area of sustainable tourism development in Turkey. In that regard, it initiated a sustainable tourism support project that includes components on awareness raising activities; networking sharing and improvement; and grant support fund. The proposed project will be the Grant Support Fund component of this initiative. UNDP will also be a member of the Working Group that will steer Efes Sustainable Tourism Support Project.

2-  The Proposed project aims to achieve below output, with their respective activities, which were discussed and agreed in the LPAC meeting:

Output 1: Strengthened capacity of local tourism actors and NGOs to contribute to sustainable tourism development through partnerships with public and private institutions

The Outputs and their respective activities were all endorsed by the LPAC.

3-  Management modality and budgetary commitments were discussed and agreed upon as follows:

·  The Project will be nationally implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

·  The proposed Project has duration of 2 years and 9 months between August 2012 and May 2015.

·  The proposed budget is 654.840, 00 USD and the project will be funded by Anadolu Efes.

·  Efes will also provide in-kind contribution of domestic and international travel and accommodation costs through its travel agency for project –related missions.

4-  Members of the LPAC raised the following points and made recommendations accordingly:

·  The Linkage between the proposed project and UNDP’s other initiative with Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Capacity Development for Sustainable Tourism may clearly be spelled out in the project document.

·  The LPAC committee endorsed the signature of the Project Document as soon as the necessary revisions in line with the recommendations of the LPAC Committee are reflected in the document.
