Description: Introduction to Sociology is a social science course designed to introduce students to the basic concepts of the intercultural discipline of sociology. Emphasis is given to the following special areas: culture, socialization, social stratification and the five institutions, including family, politics, economics, religion and education. Examples of other topics include: demography, deviance, technology, environment social issues, social change and social organization.
Prerequisite: Language score of 40 and reading score of 38 on ASSET test – OR – 50th percentile or better on the Reading and Language ACCUPLACER tests. Non-program students who haven’t taken ASSET or ACCUPLACER must see their instructor the first time they attend class. Junior or senior status.

Description: This introductory course in psychology is a survey of the multiple aspects of human behavior. It involves a survey of the theoretical foundations of human functioning in such areas as learning, motivation, emotions, personality, deviance and pathology, physiological factors and social influences. It directs the student to an insightful understanding of the complexities of human relationships in personal, social and vocational settings.
