Thank you to all who assisted in making our 2011 SkillsUSA Minnesota Championship Conference a great success. Congratulations to all participants, especially our medallion winners who will move on to represent Minnesota at the Skills USA Championships in Kansas City, Missouri, June 20 – June 24, 2011!
Here's what we need for EVERY PERSON ATTENDING - contestant, voting delegate, observer, advisor, spouse - whoever -THIS DOES INCLUDE ADVISORS!!
If you are attending NLSC you MUST complete:
Registration:
$170.00 PER PERSON ATTENDING - Make check to SkillsUSA Minnesota.
Duplicate and complete forms NLSC-MN & NLSC-1 for everyone attending.
Make a copy for your school records before you send it in.
Persons attending but not paying registration (i.e.. spouses, observers) will not receive trading pins, State T- shirt, etc. but are invited to join us for the orientation meeting, and Friday night rally.

ALL persons attending, including Advisors must complete and sign this form. Make a copy of the completed form for each person to carry with them during conference. Forward original copies to the State SkillsUSA office.
Make sure form is filled out completely. If no insurance is available, the form must be checked in the appropriate place. Incomplete forms WILL BE returned and people will not be officially registered until the form is complete.

Physically Handicapped NLSC Contestants
If you have registered a contestant who is physically handicapped and will require the assistance of another person at the competition (i.e.. dyslexic requiring a reader, deaf requiring a signer) a special form needs to be completed. Please contact me ASAP to assure proper paper work is completed.
State Transportation
We will charter (2) coach buses that will leave Minnesota early on Monday morning and return immediately following our rally on Friday evening. Depending on attendee location, we may schedule several pick-ups across the state. Routes will not be determined till the end of May.
A limited number of seats will be available on a first come first serve basis. Register early to reserve your space.
Cost will be $125 per person. ˆ (example: advisors, observers, etc.)
Transportation will be FREE of charge for ALL contestants and delegates
State Trading Pins
Each registered person will receive (1) SkillsUSA Minnesota Blinkie pin to trade, and four larger special NLSC pins.
Limited number of additional NLSC pins will be available at 2/$3
Community Service Day at NLSC Application
Anyone who is interested - students or advisors - in attending and helping out at the Community Service Day on June 24, 2011 at the national conference – please fill out the enclosed form and return the form to your State Director with the rest of the registration information. You must have qualified for NLSC to participate in this activity. Application forms are DUE on April 20th.
Please note: there are 26-30 official contests that will hold Debriefings for the student contestant and advisor on Friday morning. You will be notified by the State Director if your contest is scheduled for a debriefing and your name will be removed from the application process.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be current student/professional members during the school year preceding the National Leadership and Skills Conference.
Student members must have a school instructor / SkillsUSA advisor accompany them. This individual must also join the NCC and work along side his/her student(s) in performing the duties of the NCC members. (It is preferred that the accompanying Instructor/SkillsUSA advisor is from the same school as his/her student(s).
NCC Participants Must:
• Be approved by his/her state association director- Call if you want more DETAILS!
• Be current SkillsUSA members
• Agree to abide by the National Code of Conduct Agreement, Personal Liability and Medical Release Form Photography and Sound Release, as stated on the back of the NLSC Form 1
• Both Student and Advisor- will be housed at a separate location than the Minnesota Delegation.
• Must arrive on Saturday, June 19th till late Friday, June 24th.
Alumni/Parent/Guest Hotels – Reservations Made Easy
ADVISORS: due to limited availability at some hotels, the National Office has blocked rooms specifically for parents and guests. There is a form provided in this packet – and has a DEADLINE OF: June 1st, 2011.
NEW for 2011: PARENTS AND GUEST MUST SUBMIT THEIR OWN HOTEL RESERVATION FORMS! It will not be handled through the state office this year, due to limited hotel space.
Parents and guest can register by using the enclosed form.
Instructions are provided on the Web site. Select “Online Hotel Reservations”.
Awards Ceremony Passes
For those people not paying the registration fee but who wish to attend the Awards Ceremony, tickets will be on sale for a cost of $10.00 each. These will be SOLD in advance in the SkillsUSA Conference headquarters at the convention center.
State SkillsUSA Office- will NOT handle Pre- Orders for Awards Ceremony Passes this year.
Tickets will NOT be SOLD at the door on the night of the Awards Ceremony.

NLSC 2011 Champions Night and SkillsUSA Night
Champions Night at Power and Light will be held in the Living Room of the Power &
Light District in downtown Kansas City once again. The event is scheduled from
7-10 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, and is the first official overall conference event of the
week.
State delegations are encouraged to arrive at Power & Light (P&L) early enough to
have dinner and tour the district before the start of the festival. Bus transportation will be
provided from all outlying hotels beginning at 5 p.m. No transportation will be provided
from the downtown hotels (Marriott, Hilton President, Aladdin Holiday Inn, etc.) since
they are within walking distance of the P&L. As with all SkillsUSA events, the shuttle
busses will operate throughout the event to and from hotels and downtown.
The required dress code for admittance to the Champions Night for all attendees
is a state SkillsUSA shirt (polo, t-shirt or similar) and comfortable shorts or pants.
This is a private event, and security will be instructed not to admit anyone without the official
conference nametag and the required clothing. Carhartt and Pepsi are the official
sponsors of Champions Night.
NLSC 2011 SkillsUSA Night
“NEW” This year, for the first time, "SkillsUSA Night" will be held at Kauffman Stadium
for a Kansas City Royals vs. Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game. The game begins at 7 p.m.
on Thursday, June 23. There will be several pre-game activities where SkillsUSA will be
featured – so please make sure your delegation arrives early as possible. Bus transportation
begins at 5:30 p.m. from hotels to stadium. Busses will drop off at the north side of
the stadium near Gate A. SkillsUSA will be featured many times throughout the game, including
first pitch and first catch, and many other surprise recognitions.
The required dress code for admittance to the SkillsUSA Night for all attendees is
the official conference t-shirt provided by Lowe's and comfortable shorts or pants.
As with all SkillsUSA events, the official conference nametag is required, along with the
admission ticket, for entry into the stadium.
State delegations are encouraged to show state pride so banners and flags are encouraged.
What is not allowed into the stadium:
boxes, coolers, glass and PVC or aluminum poles (for banners).
More Information Provided Regarding Broadway Bridge
Closure in Kansas City
A section of Broadway Avenue in downtown Kansas City would be closed during this year's national conference. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will remove and replace the Broadway Bridge over I-670 in the southwest corner of the Downtown Loop late this spring and the new bridge won’t be complete until mid-September. Alternate routes into Kansas City from the airport will be posted. Signs will be posted to alert motorists on Broadway and on I-670 regarding ramp closures and their duration.
Updated information will be provided through the media, and also available at MoDOT's Kansas City website, .
SkillsUSA will provide construction updates and other alternative routes as they become available.
